Papua New GuineaI flew into Wewak from Port Moresby for Business and was picked up by the hotel shuttle service. The Hotel is the best for a provincial town in PNG. I located the hotel online and made reservations through Booking.com. That was the first in PNG for me and especially for a world class hotel in a Provincial Town like Wewak. The facilities are excellent; hotel room is big, classy and modern and room rates perfectly meet the room standards. There is value for money. Staff are friendly, professional, and excellent in service. I booked for 2 nights; however, I ended up staying for 5 nights. In addition, I booked two additional rooms for family that visited me during my stay. Few things that need improvement: 1. Playbox subscription was not made hence I was not able to watch my favorite shows; 2. Breakfast was same throughout every morning. I suggest something different on the plate each day would be perfect. 3. For long-term stays, a small discount on room rate would be attractive for repeat and regular visitors. Otherwise, Tang Mow Hotel is world class in Wewak Town. I will stay in the hotel in my next visit to Wewak.

Papua New GuineaThe location is perfect! We loved having the cafe restaurant right there at the hotel - their food is exceptional! The staff were all so friendly and helpful! The A/C worked great and the comfy beds and room-darkening curtains resulted in a perfect nights sleep. We also loved having the secure parking facility to leave our vehicle in. We enjoyed our stay very much - thank you Lae City Hotel! We will be back!

I grew up at Nadzab and as a teenager would come to Lae for...
I grew up at Nadzab and as a teenager would come to Lae for movies parties. Now it is a dirty dump .graffitii everywhere buai spit everywhere rascals everywhere rabis eveywhere continuous power black out ...not the nice clean safe city i knew at Independance. Would not recommend anyone to come visit

Madang isn't what it used to be 10 to 15 years ago .
Madang isn't what it used to be 10 to 15 years ago . The roads are very bad and it's very dirty and that speaks to the lack of government ownership on services it should be providing to Madang. The environment such as beaches and coastlines are still in tack and if that's the focus of your trip diving and snorkelling you won't be disappointed. You can get around madang easily on foot or hotel can arrange a taxi. I would be careful not to expose expensive tech gadgets like phones and cameras if you are on foot .

I was visiting Lae to see how it fared since I last saw it...
I was visiting Lae to see how it fared since I last saw it in 1979. I had lived there between 1971 and 1975. It has become overcrowded with people from outside the local area. Going out to Omili there is a market that floods the road with people and buses and is a major hazard. The roads were a bit frustrating; mostly good but some bad pothole sections that no-one was fixing. The War Cemetery is immaculately maintained but the Botanical Gardens are a mess and need to be restored as they have great tourist potential. I visited the University of Technology campus and highly recommend the Rainforest Habitat. I had friends drive me around and didn't feel comfortable driving myself in the vehicle they offered for me to use. Lae has gone downhill compared to the 70's. The favorite restaurants are all gone as well as the theatres. It was a different way of life back then.

Madang is one of the beautiful mainland coastal provinces of Papua New Guinea. The province has some of the best bountiful seafood, nice beaches, and offcourse dive spots and sites and also areas where you can organise a nice boat trip to go day diving or snorkelling.
People are lovely and nice. If you wish to go to the town area, leave your valuable belongings locked up at the hotel and take a walk to town with an experienced guide or hotel employee. You are bound to find some nicest fresh organic fruits and vegetables at the market and also pick up a few artefacts and crafts at the main market. Those sold outside the hotel are abit pricey than those you find at the market.
