Everything was perfect, very nice staff and great facilities in the hotel. The reception was warmly welcomed by Paulo who helped us a lot by checking in during the rain. Dinner at Arcadas and breakfast were great. The garden has many spots to see especially the fountains. The heated indoor swimming pool and sauna are also nice. We had such a lovely stay here.

During a month of travelling around Portugal, we’ve stayed in many hotels. Hotel Alboi, room 123, was the best equipped and roomiest of all our stays. We were supposed to be in Madeira but a storm cancelled our flight and hotel so we diverted to Aveiro with minimal research. What a lucky find! This hotel checked all our boxes and more. The location is perfect, centrally located just off the canal, but also fairly quiet at night. A large room, very comfortable huge bed, big closet, largest bathroom of our trip, Japanese toilet, shampoo, body wash and conditioner. Conditioner being a rarity these days. Body lotion, razors, tissues. Nice bathrobes and slippers. Snacks and beverages in the room were free for the first day. At night the bedding was turned down, and little treats were left in the room. A silly highlight for me was a shoe horn. I’d been struggling to put on my hiking shoes and wished I had brought a shoe horn so when I saw one in the closet, I knew the hotel had thought of everything. The blackout blinds come down at night via a switch by the headboard. Easy peasy. The room is big and bright. Everything felt new and clean. Lovely hardwood or hardwood looking floors. The staff were so lovely and spoke excellent English. We had read some poor reviews of the breakfast so had low expectations however the breakfast was great. There is a machine that makes fresh squeezed orange juice and another machine that made pancakes that were dropped on to a conveyor belt. Fun toy. As a vegetarian, I appreciated the scrambled eggs, mushrooms, red beans and roasted tomatoes plus the soy yogurt options. Plenty of cereals, granola, nuts and seeds to have a healthy breakfast, but also croissants, doughnuts and cakes if you don’t. Pastille de natas too. The breakfast area is bright and a nice space. If you go to this hotel and want a recommendation for seeing the marshes and old salt farms, a river tour with Gostavo Madeira Barros was fabulous. A highlight of our stay.

Located in a quiet section of the small coastal town of Cortegaca, a bit south of Porto, the 2 year new Rednyx Hotel was a great overnight stop after motorcycling the awesome N2 road out of Castelo Branco. The room was really comfortable, with free parking and a wonderful breakfast of buffet and cooked-to-order breakfast. We arrived early and had lunch while our room was prepared for an early check in. The restaurant has really good pizzas and delicious desserts. While we didn't have dinner, their dinner menu looks amazing, as well. Apparently, their restaurant and bat, The Golden Braco, is a popular spot in the evenings. The owner and his daughter Mara are wonderful hosts and clearly put their hearts and souls into this lifetime venture. We wish them the best of luck!

I did not use pool and spa this time. The pool is outside and looks pretty good. There is also a tennis court. The hotel belongs to the "noveaux art" category of hotels. This hotel started business in 1927 by the hand and mind of a visionary man named Alexandre Almeida, who can be considered a pioneer in this business in Portugal. The breakfast is very good as well... the environment and the music in background filled in my soul. It was a very special for me and my wife. The village is very peaceful and is located in the region called Bairrada. The food is supreme in this region. e can also walking, running, and cycling around there. This hotel remains in the Almeida family, who has other emblematic hotels in the country, including the one in Bussaco, another charming place in the Bairrada region.

The hotel was very nice all round and great value. The room was superb and had great views over the river in the distance and was very clean. The scenery outside was fantastic and the hotel situated in a very quiet and tranquil location in it's woodland retreat. The breakfast was wonderful and covers everybody's needs to start the day. If I had a negative about the hotel it would be the gym which needs updating with new equipment that actually works and doesn't fall to bits or is in bits and not functional. I did a session on arriving on the first day and it wasn't ideal. Overall very happy and we will return next year. Thumbs up

This is truly a hidden paradise. The scenery is so green beautiful and calm. You hear the birds, you see birds flying, you hear the river. The swimming pool is amazing. The water was a perfect temperature to refresh without being too cold. This is a perfect getaway from city life. The hosts are so welcoming and eager to help. They encourage guests to ask for what they need and they are extremely accommodating. For instance, we had the privilege to choose our room and during breakfast they asked us if we wanted eggs made in any way we liked.

We loved the hotel! The room was clean and spacious with a beautiful view of the river. The breakfast had great variety that satisfied the needs of all our family members (and believe me that's not easy). We also loved that the hotel had the indoor swimming pool that we enjoyed in the cold weather. Very highly recommended and definitely will be back.

Espinho is a charming coastal town with a small-town feel, yet it is very well connected to Porto, which is only about 20 km away by excellent roads. It is a picturesque place where you can enjoy the sea every day while still having everything you need close by. I have family ties to Espinho, so I may be a little biased, but it is a city I am very fond of, although I do find it quite cold in winter for my tropical taste. One of the best things about Espinho is the seafront area, with its beaches, promenade, and pleasant outdoor spaces. There are plenty of good places to eat, from more refined restaurants to small traditional fishermen’s taverns where you can eat very well. It is also very easy to get around thanks to its simple and organized grid layout, and it makes a great base for visiting nearby places such as Porto, Ovar, Penafiel, and Vila Nova de Gaia. For groups of friends, walking by the sea, going to the beach, cycling, visiting Senhor da Pedra Chapel, and exploring Espinho’s weekly market are all great options.

Our stay was wonderful, combining a peaceful atmosphere with a warm, family-friendly setting. The decor perfectly reflects the location, adding a special touch to the experience. Breakfast was excellent, with attentive service from D. Ana, who went out of her way to accommodate dietary needs during my pregnancy. The surrounding towns, villages and near beaches are amazing. The casino in Espinho is also really good with fantastic shows and meals on offer.
