IndiaI had the best stay at Penzion Kaps while travelling within Slovenia. The property is perfectly located as it’s close to the lake as well as the city center.
While checking in I was very well attended at the desk and was guided about all the activities in and around Bled. The room also had an apple juice and some chocolates which were a very kind gesture in my opinion.
All the major attractions are easily accessible either by the bus or by walk.
The breakfast was amazing and they had a lot of vegetarian options too.

Spa is included with the room, it is very intimate and private, it makes you wanna stay longer. Most of all the people working there were so nice and friendly. In particular the owner (sorry didnt catch her name) helped us out by lending us her phone when we needed to make a call. We had breakfast every morning which was fantastic and then dinner one night which was exceptional. We loved the fresh local produce and again the staff were so knowledgable about the food and drinks. I would definately recommend booking this place if you want something a bit quieter than Lake Bled but equally as beautiful. I would also recommend the hike to Mostnica Gorge which was stunning.

Great location and lovely facility. Mostly we loved the staff that went out of their way to help us. We booked this hotel but arrived at their sister hotel (4kms away). We had arrived on foot after a long day hiking in the mountains - they kindly shuttled us, we were exhausted. Apparently this is a common occurrence. The dinner was great value for money and the included breakfast was fabulous.

Quite simply - we loved everything. Fantastic location, wonderful staff who really deeply care about the experience you have, great facilities - sauna, jacuzzi, relaxing areas, snacks, tea and coffee - unbelievable breakfasts. Gear to use as you please. Surreal location right by the lake and surrounded by the mountains.

The location was perfect - very close to the lake and other beautiful areas as well as restaurants, shops, tourist information and transport facilities. The property had lots of character and was very comfortable and our host, Janez, was extremely friendly and helpful.

We really liked the apartment. Marijeta and Nika, who work at the reception, were very pleasant and always ready to help if anything was needed. The apartment was lovely, and the breakfast was also great :)

Gorgeous places for an active holiday - the lake is warm and calm, and you can kayak, SUP or swim, and when there's wind even sail. Nearby Mostnica gorge and Voja valley are worth the overly expensive parking fares.

The breakfast was wonderful, with plenty of food and a great variety. The food was really delicious. We truly enjoyed the accommodation, and the hotel owner was lovely, helping us with every question and everything we needed. We got caught in the snow in the mountains, and the hotel owner drove us in his own car – it was so kind and definitely not something to be taken for granted. I highly recommend this place ☺️

The town of Bohinjska Bistrica didn't impress us but the Bohinj lake a few kilometers away is the main attraction anyway and it is beautiful. There is a nice cyclepath from Bohinjska Bistrica to the lake with a few steep parts and soon the whole cyclepath from lake Bled to Bohinj will be completed. There are also some other routes around Bohinjska Bistrica but the area might be a bit constricted for serious cyclists. In July and August there is too much traffic for serious road cycling if you don't like a lot of traffic but we were told that from September it is much more quiet.

Beautiful lake, not as crowded or touristy as Lake Bled. Very small town but great for a night or two, especially if you are using it as a jumping off point for day hikes or a trek in the Julian Alps.

Good location - just the middle between Bohinj and Bled lakes. Quiet area but in the morning we heard some cars from distant route and also train once per day. Hosts are very friendly and helpful. We got free pack of local eggs on arrive.
We were living in upper floor. The accommodation had everything we need for nice stay. The beds are a bit hard and noisy. Also I would add nets on the windows because there is no AC and opening window at night time might cause problems with mosquitos.

Lots of hikes available for all levels and a fair amount of length as well (from daily to several days, if you stop in huts and move towards Triglav and the seven lakes). Lots of other sports activities directly around, and on the lake (rowboat, canoe, kayak, swimming, climbing, biking, walking/running). The area is far less touristic than Bled, which is a plus in my book. Getting around is quite straightforward, as there is mostly one road. That also means that it gets a bit congested on the road in the beginning and the end of the day (especially in Bled, which is the main chokepoint). However, even when it's congested, it keeps moving, so it's never too long.
The landscape is gorgeous everywhere, and because it's enclosed in a valley, there is less suntime, which means the temperature are usually less brutal during summer. The water is also very nice to swim in, with various big beaches, but also a lot of natural nooks and alcoves that offer a better feeling of privacy.
