The hotel is very beautiful, comfortable, calm and well located. We had an amazing view of the Mekong river from our room and the owners were super friendly and accommodating, they made us feel very welcome. The staff was always helpful and lovely. We highly recommend it!

MHeaven Guesthouse isn’t just a place to sleep, it’s a small, living ecosystem of connection, and that’s almost entirely thanks to Tina, the charismatic landlady who somehow manages to hold everything together with warmth, humour and effortless grace. Tina doesn’t just run a guesthouse, she hosts. It’s the kind of place where you arrive “just for a night” and suddenly find yourself staying longer, because it feels easy, human and real. Solo travellers in particular will appreciate this heaven.

Very unique place to stay in Laos. Completely quiet, like a green oasis in the middle of nowhere. Everything in the rooms is very clean, comfortable and beautiful. Most calm spot in Laos, perfect to enjoy a couple of days in the nature. Right in the wetlands so the sunsets are stunning to enjoy with a boatride in the canoe. Food is also very good. Staff is extraordinary friendly and helpful. Would totally recommend 10/10!!

I enjoyed that everything was in walking distance.

I enjoyed that everything was in walking distance. The local people are very nice and helpful. The local food was delicious, and the environment was a relaxing atmosphere. If you get lost any local would help you with directions or even take you to your destination. Pakse had many Buddhist monuments that you can walk into and explore and take pictures. Wonderful little city would like to come again.

Suitable for backpackers with lots of time and a chill state of mind. Getting there is not easy and there's really not that much to do once on the island other than just chill. I came during "high season" yet the island was still pretty empty. It's a great place for couples or groups of friends arriving together, not so much for solo travelers.

Even if you have been to Angkor Wat and a trillion other temples this one is special. The huge frangipani trees framing the broken staircase was like an entry into Fairyland. A lot of love and design went into this place many centuries ago when it was constructed.

A still very authentic village on Mekong's largest island.

A still very authentic village on Mekong's largest island. There is nothing much to do, but this is the village's special charm. You sit in one of the lovely restaurants along the Mekong, you let your gaze wander over the river any you watch the fisherman. The pace in this village is very relaxed, people are very friendly and all you have to do is to relax as well. I highly recommend you to visit the morning market at the edge of the village. It is very special and you should come very early, at around 6 am.

I loved the zipline over the Tad Fane Waterfall. It was definitely worth the money. The waterfalls are a bit far away from each other on the loop. The sunset from the Buddha on the hill or from the side of the Mekong river is just magical.

I was in Champassak during the Wat Phou Festival which was great and interesting and then returned for one night after being in the 4000 Islands before heading north. The Temple are marvellous and would like to see it without all the tourists and festival goers but I enjoyed the festival particularly the opening and the Alms Ceremony for the monks. We went down the Wat Oum Tomo by a small private boat - a 2 hour trip each way around the island, but it was well worth it. Champassak is peaceful and encourages relaxation although I found bicycling in the rice paddies gave me insight into country life. My most vivid memory is sitting by the Mekong and watching the most beautiful sunrises I have ever seen over a river that was as still as glass.

This is a quieter location than the more popular southern islands of Don Det and Don Khone. What I loved here is the quiet, less garbage and less tourist jadedness of the locals which I experienced on my visit to the southern isles. One day I rented a scooter and rode around the whole island and really enjoyed it! If your aim is the waterfalls, kayaking, and lots of tourist facilities, this might not be the place for you. However, you can get down to the waterfalls from here by private boat which takes about 1.5 hours and a beautiful experience as well.

The roads in Champasak are very bad with massive pot holes, I recommend to hire a 4wd. Pakse has lots of markets to look at and there are some beautiful waterfall to look at just 1-2 hours drive. The Mekong river is amazing to look at also. I highly recommend going to the Vat Phou.
