Wow! I was pleasantly surprised to see such a gorgeous location, room, yard, beach, pool, and restaurant! The ambiance and location was breathtaking and the staff were *so* kind that we wished we could have stayed another night! Our dog was also quite happy to have so much space to run around and explore.

We had an amazing stay at Sabai Sabai Hotel and will definitely be coming back! Our bungalow was fantastic. Located right on the beach, just a few steps from the water. It was simple and functional, but absolutely perfect for what we needed. The veranda was a highlight, with a sunbed and a hammock where we could relax and enjoy the ocean view. The entire hotel area is beautifully natural and well-preserved, with many different spots where you can sit down, unwind, and fully take in the atmosphere and the beach. It really feels peaceful and authentic. The restaurant offers a great variety of dishes, and everything we tried was delicious. Another big plus: you can rent a scooter directly at the hotel at a fair price, which makes exploring the area super easy. A special mention goes to Wan, the host, an absolute legend! Always available, incredibly kind, and genuinely helpful with anything we needed. We felt completely at home here and are already looking forward to our next visit!

Location, location, location. You are dropped at the entrance to Bamboo and walk about 50 metres down path with the sound of the surf, the smell of the ocean and then views of the Andaman Sea to a check in/restuaraunt on the beach. Yes, on the beach. I feel bad telling the world about this place as it is a parkway back to SE Asian beaches of 30-40 years ago.

Few people stop in Ranong, but just use it as a transit stop on the way to the islands. I really enjoyed my stay because of the walking street market on Saturday from 5 pm, and two great places to eat: The best Myanmar food at Cafe and Friends ( it doesn't seem to be on many review platforms) and for Roti, go to Roti Bangnui ( only open until 4 pm). The night market is also great for food and drink, and not so many tourists here. there is only one place to sit though at the far end way from the main road

If you want to escape the crowds and the big resorts, Koh Phayam is the place. It still has that authentic "old Thailand" feel—very quiet, laid-back, and best of all, there are no cars on the island. I spent my days exploring the big, empty beaches and enjoying the natural vibe. Everything is super relaxed. It’s the kind of island where you can really disconnect from the world. During my stay, I was based at Flower Power Village, which was the perfect home base. It’s located just about 150 meters from the beach, so I was back and forth all day. One thing that really surprised me was the Wi-Fi at the village; it's excellent and definitely the most reliable connection I found while exploring the island. The food there is also a huge highlight—they serve amazing Italian food and pizza, but the Burmese dishes were also delicious. It was great to have such high-quality meals after a long day of walking the quiet trails. Truly a hidden gem if you love nature and a slow pace of life.

I've known Koh Chang for a very long time.

I've known Koh Chang for a very long time. The island beauty, quiet and lack of distraction were always the best things about it. In recent years efforts to 'upgrade' are evident, with more roads making more of the island accessible and exploitable. The island is changing, but right now it's still a great escape from the modern chaos. Good food is easy to find, and for tourists still not really expensive.

Ranong was a typical border Thai town.

Ranong was a typical border Thai town. Mainly used as a stop over the the islands. It had a huge market and some nice cafes. We stayed there a few days and that was enough really. Apart from the sky walk and palace there was not much else to do. Although we enjoyed the Raksa Wari hot springs for a morning. We were ok as we had a pool. And chilled and had coffees ! Grab was a little difficult.

Koh Phayam is one of those places that still feels untouched. No cars, just quiet roads, nature and a very slow pace of life. The beaches are wide and almost empty, perfect if you want space and silence. You can walk for a long time without seeing many people. The whole island has a very authentic feeling, like Thailand many years ago. Simple, peaceful and surrounded by nature. If you are looking for a quiet escape, this island is a perfect choice.

It's a pleasant enough town, several bars, restaurants, cafés, and even a nightclub, lots of varied shops and businesses, a normal, functional town where you will get a good perspective on how ordinary Thais live. . Mainly Thai people going about their business as opposed to a tourism overload, 'real Thailand' as they say. Ranong is surrounded by lush greenery and it's great to drive through.

There are only drug addicts on the whole island.

There are only drug addicts on the whole island. If you hate drugs like I do, don’t go there. Snorkeling is no good, visibility is 1-2m only. Buffalo beach is very shallow so if you go when it’s low tide I’d no good. Traffic is terrible on the island. All kind of nationality drives really fast and bad. We paid 5000bath for a longtail boat for one whole day for snorkeling around 3 different islands. Visibility is 1-2m even after driving boat for more than 1h. Not worth the money at all. Much rubbish on the beaches. I will never visit that island again.
