Offering an outdoor pool and a private beach area, Jaribu Beach Hotel is set in Paje in the Zanzibar Region, 24 mi from Zanzibar City. We found Jaribu Beach Hotel a perfect place to get away from the busy city routine: located right on the beach it is very peaceful and beautiful. The center of Paje is walking distance away (25 mins beach walk or 5 mins by taxi). The host Masoud and all the staff are super nice: we got help renting a scooter, advise about the places nearby and overall they made us feel cozy and welcome, like home. Breakfast was included - was full and tasty. Having decided to try dinner on the site we did't get disappointed: everything was very fresh and delicious. Our room was clean and spacious with big chairs outside to chill with the sea view. We had an amazing stay there, thank you!
Located in Jambiani, The Loop Beach Resort features an outdoor swimming pool, a garden and a terrace. Among the various facilities of this property are a shared lounge and a bar. I loved everything in this place, specially the design of spaces: it’s smart, simple and beautiful, you feel close to the sea at all times. The pool is the highlight, great design, it overlooks the sea and it’s just next to your room, yet you still feel privacy. The manager and staff were always friendly, uncomplicated too. I walked around the beach and honestly no other place (even more “luxurious”) compares to The Loop.

Offering a year-round outdoor pool ,a spa center and a diving center in the neighboring hotel, Zanzibar Queen Hotel is set in Matemwe in the Zanzibar Region. The resort is new, open for less than a year. The large rooms were very comfortable with air con. Or you can sit on the deck in the shade and enjoy the warm outside and enjoy the flowers in the gardens. The rooms were equipped with everything including: hot water maker (with ample coffees, teas), hair dryer, fridge, safe box, mosquito netting, beach towels, soaps, shampoos, hair conditioners, lotions. You can borrow sports equipment for free: volleyball, raquet sports, basketball, bicyles (try riding along the beach). Or enjoy the pool or beach chaises under a thatched roof or garden rooms with sofas. There is yoga too. You eat under a huge thatched roof dining room. Watch men and boys fish in the reefs in front of the hotel, women gathering seaweed, walk on the reefs (the reefs are all dead by now) or take a snorkeling/diving trip. We especially enjoyed the Friday night entertainment and BBQ.

Featuring a private beach area, Seasons Lodge Zanzibar is a hotel in Pongwe offering water sports facilities and garden. The property also features an outdoor swimming pool. We really enjoyed our stay here. It was so peaceful when we arrived, we had a lazy day by the pool. We were lucky enough to be there for the first Sunday sessions event of the season where people from around the island and other hotels come along for food and drinks so there was a real buzz about the place. The setting is beautiful, right on the cliff edge to the beach. We had a lovely walk out on the beach and saw lots of urchins and star fish. The staff were all fantastic, especially the manager Christopher who helped with the booking of activities for us. The bar snack food was great. We had one disappointing dinner which Christopher was very quick to try to rectify for us. By that time we were tired and didn't want anything else but we really appreciated the gesture. Rooms were very clean, facilities were great.

Zanzibar was great. However, my expectations nd what I got were very different, not in a bad way, just different. Things don't function as efficiently in the rain so either don't go during the rainy season or hope it doesn't rain while you are there. It's a great city though. The people are really friendly and everyone knows each other which gives it a really homey feel. The history was also super cool to learn about. The sunsets were definitely the best I have seen in the world and white sandy beaches were up there as well (although, Diani in Kenya, still have my favourite beaches). Snorkelling was amazing and even had the unexpected chance of swimming with Dolphins. My suggestion would be to fly directly to Zanzibar. The ferry from Dar es Salaam was really long and as far as I am concerned, you're not missing much by not going to Dar es Salaam first.
I fell in love with this place! The people, the charm of the old buildings, the food, the ocean. It's an amazing place to visit. Just beware of the local street peddlers trying to sell you things. Some can be aggressive. All in all, I look forward yo visiting again! Try staying at the Doubletree or Zanzibar Serena. For indian-inspired cuisine and fresh cocktails, try The Silk Route. You'll be glad you did!
The village is small and the people welcoming. Though there are very few amenities (basic store, small post office, basic bakery, restaurants) it has everything you need for a stay on the beach. The beach is lovely and less occupied then other areas of Zanzibar. Perfect place to chill, but don’t expect much nightlife/activity in the village itself. You can arrange dive trips/island tours/dolphin watching in town or with hotels
I really enjoyed my stay. Zanzest was wonderfully relaxing inexpensive and the staff were super helpful. It is quite a distance away from the center of Zanzibar and of everything taxis were the most expensive part of the trip. Did a lot of sight seeing, swimming, drinking beer shandy and generally catching a great tan!
Beautiful tides and beaches. Must see location in Zanzibar. Unfortunately there is a huge difference between the real life outside vs what they offer in hotels. Common problem in Africa... still amazing local people!
The city exudes charm filled with centurie old buildings boasting Arabian architecture, as well as eastern influences entwined with African culture. People are friendly but at times can be overwhelming with so many offerings of tours. Zanzibar offers the most amazing beaches you will ever come across. The Safari Blu is a must on the tour list. Make sure you bargain before you do any shopping prices are always hiked up especially if you are a tourist.
Its lovely and quiet. You get a glimpse of the community, and it’s less expensive than up North. We lazed at the beach. Drank cocktails, ate prawns. Kite surfing is a big sport in this part of Zanzibar. Jambiani is just an hr drive from the airport. There isn’t much actuvity for kids to do in this part that is why we had a daytrip to Kendwa
Zanzibar City is a natural choice as either a destination or a stop on the way to one of the beach areas. It is full of history, plenty of lodging choices and lots of friendly waterfront or water-view bars and restaurants. We had only one full day in the city, and it was not enough for a good orientation. Two to three would have been much better. We took the halfday Stone Town walking tour and found it extremely informative and a good overview. It was arranged through our hotel (Al-Minar). We also took an short spice tour arranged by our hotel and wished we had done some research to choose one more to our liking or skipped it altogether. The tour we were on (perhaps all of them?) went to a sort of demonstration plantation, where we did get to see lots of our kitchen spices as nature supplies them. This is interesting. However, our tour included no history of the industry, no exposure to the processes of spice production (such as drying) or anything other than the plants themselves. Along the tour were many entrepreneurs, selling or offering products (oils, fruit) or demonstrations (shimmying up a coconut tree), for tips. We would have preferred something more informative and less commercial. Again, though, this is likely a function of the tour operator or even the individual guide. Because we were on a timetable, our tour was private ($40), including transportation and a local guide at the plantation. There are organized tours that last all day and include additional activities, which might have been more interesting. Overall, though, a worthwhile stop en route to the beach.
I read that Nungwi has more nightlife than other areas in Zanzibar, but it was still pretty lacking. There are several beachside bars, but it's definitely not a party place... Which was just fine for us. Nungwui has fine, white sand with clear turquoise water. Perfect beach and one of my favorites!
Zanzibar is a beautiful set of islands. Stone Town (in Zanzibar City) is a UNESCO World Heritage site, with plenty of beautiful sites to visit. Other islands with beautiful beaches, snorkelling, giant tortoises and peacocks are a short boat ride away. On the culinary side, plenty of seafood and spices are available. I stayed in Stone Town (expect for a short trip to Prison Island), where all is in a walkable distance.
We love the history behind this family run hotel and would recommend anyone to stay here when visiting Stonetown. The staff are extra attentive and friendly. Breakfast is better than we had at some bigger and more famous hotels in Zanzibar. Said made us feel very welcome and told us a lot about history of Zanzibar. This property is in the best location in Stonetown and the rooftop terrace was a definitely a highlight for us with beautiful seaviews and nice air flow to refresh after a day of sightseeing. Wifi signal was available in the room.
The hotel facilitates, set within a beautiful historical building, made for a wonderful start to our Zanzibar adventure! The staff were pleasant and helpful; the location and views are great. Wi-Fi worked wonderfully! The regular room rates are quite expensive but, with a deal found through Booking, we had great value for our money. I'm probably forgetting something but, all-in-all, a wonderful stay. One of our best accommodation-memories of Zanzibar!
This hotel has a great location in Stone Town. Price was reasonable. Room, bed and toilet are clean and comfortable. Breakfast was also great. The hotel manager was really helpful in recommending things to do, where to eat, etc. The hotel arranged for our pickup and dropoff at the Zanzibar airport (both ways) with no issues. The hotel always answered our questions prior to arrival within 24 hours which is great. We spent 3 nights with 2 rooms. Great hotel.
The location was right in the heart of Stone Town. Easy access to Forodhani and surrounding shopping and sightseeing. I chose this hotel to give my parter a taste of Zanzibari culture and history and it did not disappoint. It would have been interesting to see a couple of the other rooms (if they were vacant) as they are all uniquely decorated to commemorate a famous Zanzibarian personality. Something staff could offer when checking in perhaps?
You feel like home! Very quiet, charming and relaxing hotel, close to the beach. Nicole and her staff are really nice and helpful: we had one pair of glasses sucked by the swimming pool and we forgot one paint souvenir at the reception when we left, they helped us and managed to gather the glasses and bring our stuff to the hotel at Zanzibar StoneTown. We enjoyed the Baladin beers, especially the spicy “Rock’n Roll”. Get there with no doubts.
This room was almost its value and that is hard to find in zanzibar. It was a simple room with all the important amenities. Mosquitoes were very few. It is very staregically located. Its both near to the ocean and the city center. Although there was a lot of activity going on outside the hotel...the inside was very quiet. I did not see mosquitoes in the rooms too. The resturant upstairs was pleasant and food was also fine
The management of the hotel, Caroline and Tom; are doing amazing job. They are so friendly and you can always feel that you’re being taken care of. The hotel is not the best in Zanzibar obviously but I can assure you will leave there by having a great experience rather than only luxury. All the staff was also great, I am sure they will make the hotel better everyday! This was one of our best hotel experience by far!
This place is beautiful with eye-catching gardens. The rooms are clean, breakfast on the rooftop each morning overlooking the water is an inspiration and staff go out of their way to help meet your needs. Oh, and there is a lovely massage room within the hotel for extra relaxation! Good value for money - I recommend it to anyone visiting Zanzibar. Perfect for solo travelers and couples alike.
I think the best part about Hotel Verde Zanzibar is the staff. The people they have are excellent in all aspects. Starting from the people that picked us from the airport, we experienced excellent service. The facilities are excellent and always clean and well kept and maintained as well. Everything about Hotel Verde Zanzibar is excellent.
Oh my, restaurant at the hotel! We were coming back even when living at distant beaches - to enjoy chef's cicade lobster and octopus salad!! 5 min to one of the very best beaches on Zanzibar, calm and nice garden location, nicely decorated rooms - this hotel is obviously THE BEST (and more) you can find in Nungwi for this price!
This hotel is in a good location and it was quiet. They have a great rooftop restaurant, which is where breakfast is served. We were only here one night but enjoyed the decor with the Zanzibari furniture and ambiance. They also made sure we could get the transfers and tours we wanted, easily booked right near reception.
The room was nice and big, the bed super comfortable. The hotel is in old zanzibari style, quiet and placement is great.Staff is helpful and friendly. The breakfast is huge, don't get too excited or you might have to go back to your room for a digestive nap before leaving to explore the city!
I enjoyed calmness of the location in contrast to any public space in Zanzibar. The room was very spatious, equiped with shelves, small table and two chairs (not common in Zanzibar hotels). The food they prepared for us was delicious. In the garden we could dry our swimming suites and towels.
The hotel was very comfortable, the room was quite spacious and neat, the service was very on point, the staffs were very friendly and helpful, especially Jacqueline in the front desk, i loved the welcome drink she gave us. i will definately go back there when next i'm in zanzibar.
best impression left the bartender, who was the kindest of all the staff that we encountered during the change of 6 hotels on Zanzibar. excellent VF Excellent bathroom with good water pressure comfortable but small bungalow, pool small and devastated but with clean water
the location is perfect. the building is very old, but that gives a special charm to the hotel. Surprisingly! The breakfast was he best we had tried in Zanzibar's hotels. Good daily cleaning, free water, tea and coffee in the rooms.
we were in many places in Zanzibar during our journey and this hotel was the best. we really enjoyed from everything, from the staff and owner to breakfast and cleanness.
The backpacker central of Zanzibar. Centrally located and has all the amenities you might need. Having double beds in the dorm is something more hostels should have!
Great place, food was awesome! Bit slow getting the food out but I think that may be the culture in Zanzibar, not necessarily the hotel specifically.
Excellent location, food and service. Heaven in Zanzibar to relax and enjoy tide. Best hotel in Nungwi.
