Hotel in Nungwi Beach, Nungwi
Zava Nungwi is set in Nungwi, within 66 feet of East Africa Diving and less than 0.6 mi of Nungwi Mnarani Aquarium. Popular points of interest nearby include Spanish Dancer Divers and Nungwi Beach. It was important for me to feel safe as a solo woman traveler. The staff was amazing. I was greeted by Dennis on arrival who was kind and full of smiles, he advised of great places to eat and which restaurants accepted credit cards. Eman was always there to help if I needed assistance with a taxi or anything necessary to feel at home and at peace. The housekeeping staff were full of smiles, and the restaurant staff where we had breakfast were always welcoming. The location is perfect. It’s right near good restaurants and of course right across from the beach. Also, the WiFi was strong. This was important because I work online. I never had issues.
Hotel in Kigomani
Overlooking white-sand beaches and the crystalline waters of the Indian Ocean, SeVi Boutique Hotel is located at the north-east coast of Zanzibar, by the fishing village of Kigomani. I booked sevi hotel to fill a gap in my itinerary, since I will be staying on Zanzibar for another 3 weeks. This place rocks!!!! It exceeded my expectations in every possible way! I have never experienced this kind hospitality in my life and I've traveled a lot! Starting from George and Ania who stayed up and welcomed me in the middle of the night (my rental car broke down in the middle of nowhere so I arrived late), to the snack and fruits they had prepared for me because I missed dinner, the incredibly spacious and beautifully located room, the amazing food at the restaurant (best food I've had in Zanzibar and many other places), the impeccable service, smiling and well trained staff, everybody went the extra mile for me! I felt pampered all around and the icing on the cake was the great massage in the little but most awesome spa area I have ever seen, with a chillout pool amidst tropical vegetation. The hotel has 2 more pools, one of which directly overlooking the pristine white sandy beach and the ocean and even though the hotel was fully booked, the only sounds I could hear were birds chirping and the breeze going through the magnificent palm trees in this great garden of the hotel. I had the opportunity to chat with George (I have never met a general manager before who cares about his guests' experience this much) who gave me a lot of interesting insight on life in Zanzibar and the difference between my previous boutique hotel in the south of the island was just crazy! I'm going to cut this short, there are so many things I could write, but to everyone reading this, do not hesitate to book sevi boutique hotel! In fact, I have already cancelled 2 of the hotels I was planning on staying and I will return to sevi next week to stay till the end of my vacation, with my girlfriend who's joining me in a couple of days. This is the perfect romantic getaway, off the beaten track place, simply amazing!

Set in Pongwe, 1969 feet from Kiwengwa Beach, The Island - Pongwe Lodge offers accommodations with a restaurant, free private parking, an outdoor swimming pool and a bar. The Island, Pongwe, was the last stop on our trip to Tanzania and was such a highlight for us. Margo and Amine are the nicest, most hospitable hosts and really went above and beyond to make our stay truly special. From upgrading us on arrival, to arranging taxis and covid tests for us, to showing us some of Zanzibar's famous places, Margo and Amine really made us not only feel incredibly welcome, but also like old friends! During our stay Margo even arranged a special snorkeling trip for us (with packed lunch from their excellent restaurant!), where we had the incredible experience to swim with dolphins! The staff at The Island are also amazing-- everyone is very friendly, very competent, and you can just tell you're being cared for by good people. Amine and Margo also take care of two dogs and three cats they've adopted on the island, and while we were there we had the immense pleasure of meeting Kuku the resident red colobus monkey! All in all, one of the most memorable places we have stayed, and we will definitely come back at some point soon!

Zanzibar was great. However, my expectations nd what I got were very different, not in a bad way, just different. Things don't function as efficiently in the rain so either don't go during the rainy season or hope it doesn't rain while you are there. It's a great city though. The people are really friendly and everyone knows each other which gives it a really homey feel. The history was also super cool to learn about. The sunsets were definitely the best I have seen in the world and white sandy beaches were up there as well (although, Diani in Kenya, still have my favourite beaches). Snorkelling was amazing and even had the unexpected chance of swimming with Dolphins. My suggestion would be to fly directly to Zanzibar. The ferry from Dar es Salaam was really long and as far as I am concerned, you're not missing much by not going to Dar es Salaam first.
I fell in love with this place! The people, the charm of the old buildings, the food, the ocean. It's an amazing place to visit. Just beware of the local street peddlers trying to sell you things. Some can be aggressive. All in all, I look forward yo visiting again! Try staying at the Doubletree or Zanzibar Serena. For indian-inspired cuisine and fresh cocktails, try The Silk Route. You'll be glad you did!
The village is small and the people welcoming. Though there are very few amenities (basic store, small post office, basic bakery, restaurants) it has everything you need for a stay on the beach. The beach is lovely and less occupied then other areas of Zanzibar. Perfect place to chill, but don’t expect much nightlife/activity in the village itself. You can arrange dive trips/island tours/dolphin watching in town or with hotels
I really enjoyed my stay. Zanzest was wonderfully relaxing inexpensive and the staff were super helpful. It is quite a distance away from the center of Zanzibar and of everything taxis were the most expensive part of the trip. Did a lot of sight seeing, swimming, drinking beer shandy and generally catching a great tan!
Beautiful tides and beaches. Must see location in Zanzibar. Unfortunately there is a huge difference between the real life outside vs what they offer in hotels. Common problem in Africa... still amazing local people!
The city exudes charm filled with centurie old buildings boasting Arabian architecture, as well as eastern influences entwined with African culture. People are friendly but at times can be overwhelming with so many offerings of tours. Zanzibar offers the most amazing beaches you will ever come across. The Safari Blu is a must on the tour list. Make sure you bargain before you do any shopping prices are always hiked up especially if you are a tourist.
Its lovely and quiet. You get a glimpse of the community, and it’s less expensive than up North. We lazed at the beach. Drank cocktails, ate prawns. Kite surfing is a big sport in this part of Zanzibar. Jambiani is just an hr drive from the airport. There isn’t much actuvity for kids to do in this part that is why we had a daytrip to Kendwa
Zanzibar City is a natural choice as either a destination or a stop on the way to one of the beach areas. It is full of history, plenty of lodging choices and lots of friendly waterfront or water-view bars and restaurants. We had only one full day in the city, and it was not enough for a good orientation. Two to three would have been much better. We took the halfday Stone Town walking tour and found it extremely informative and a good overview. It was arranged through our hotel (Al-Minar). We also took an short spice tour arranged by our hotel and wished we had done some research to choose one more to our liking or skipped it altogether. The tour we were on (perhaps all of them?) went to a sort of demonstration plantation, where we did get to see lots of our kitchen spices as nature supplies them. This is interesting. However, our tour included no history of the industry, no exposure to the processes of spice production (such as drying) or anything other than the plants themselves. Along the tour were many entrepreneurs, selling or offering products (oils, fruit) or demonstrations (shimmying up a coconut tree), for tips. We would have preferred something more informative and less commercial. Again, though, this is likely a function of the tour operator or even the individual guide. Because we were on a timetable, our tour was private ($40), including transportation and a local guide at the plantation. There are organized tours that last all day and include additional activities, which might have been more interesting. Overall, though, a worthwhile stop en route to the beach.
I read that Nungwi has more nightlife than other areas in Zanzibar, but it was still pretty lacking. There are several beachside bars, but it's definitely not a party place... Which was just fine for us. Nungwui has fine, white sand with clear turquoise water. Perfect beach and one of my favorites!
Zanzibar is a beautiful set of islands. Stone Town (in Zanzibar City) is a UNESCO World Heritage site, with plenty of beautiful sites to visit. Other islands with beautiful beaches, snorkelling, giant tortoises and peacocks are a short boat ride away. On the culinary side, plenty of seafood and spices are available. I stayed in Stone Town (expect for a short trip to Prison Island), where all is in a walkable distance.
This is one of the best hotels in Zanzibar. The receptionist, Irene, was very helpful and friendly she is very knowledgeable and smiles all the time. The chef (I don't remember his name) was also very nice, the food was excellent and the portion was enough. The rooms are clean and well kept, the environment, the beach, kids' play area are all well maintained. This hotel is also perfect for a family. The owner came by in the morning and he was very charming. This was my first time at Royal Cliff, and I will definitely come again
Sevi Hotel is beautifully located in Kigomani which is a more secluded beach in Zanzibar. We picked it because it’s close to Mnemba Island, where we snorkeled and luckily saw dolphins too! The staff were so warm and hospitable. It was my birthday when we stayed and they made sure it was special. The pools and other amenities are great and the villas ate spacious. The architecture and design blended well in the nature. George, the manager, is truly commendable. This is the best place in Zanzibar to relax and spend your beach days away.
This beautiful hotel was just a short walk from central Stonetown and only a block from the waterfront. The dining terrace offered a stunning view of the water front and the ocean as well as gorgeous sunsets! The swimming pool was sparkling clean—a welcome change from other hotel pools we experienced in Tanzania. The food in the restaurant was excellent, breakfast offerings abundant, and dining service outstanding. I would certainly return if ever in Zanzibar again.
The Zanzibar Queen Hotel was one of the best experiences we’ve had at a resort. The staff was so friendly, the food was really amazing (especially the barbecue with shrimp, lamb, lobster, etc.), the room was big, bright, and comfortable, the view of the ocean from the balcony was super, the pool was big and clean, the gardens were lush and gorgeous .... and the value for the price cannot be beat. All around a wonderful experience.
Makunduchi
I was impressed by Clove Island! Hotel is looking very nice, high quality interior, looks very fancy and elegant. I'm traveling a lot, I was in four different hotels on Zanzibar, but this one was realy the best choose. Especially if you like delicious food, cozy and calm atmosphere, and absolutely gorgeous room design. Plus for good communication with managment staff and relaxing masage on Spa. I will come back
Nungwi
Haluk and Fred are the best hosts ever! Awesome place, peaceful and quiet (you will have a great sleep) with amazing energies, beautiful room with comfortable bed, good location (4 min from the beach), great value for money. We booked for 1 night and end up staying the whole 4 nights we had in Zanzibar, we felt at home :) Best breakfast we had in ALL Tanzania and they catered wonderful for vegan diet.
Staying at the Coffee House Hotel was just wonderful! Rooms are decorated in original Zanzibari style with big four-poster beds, staff are very charming and breakfast on the rooftop is a highlight! The location in the middle of the old town is very nice. The very lovely and always busy café on the ground floor adds to a nice atmosphere and serves wonderful coffee and cakes all day. I recommend highly!
The Z Hotel is large enough to include all the necessary amenities but small enough I felt valued and very well looked after. The location is perfect for enjoying sunset cocktails on the rooftop and for engaging with locals as they go about their beachside day. Rooms were large, clean and very comfortable. I will be back and I recommend the Z Hotel to anyone lucky enough to visit Zanzibar!
Hotel staff was absolutely amazing, very helpful and genuine. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. We had our wedding ceremony there and hotel manager arranged everything for us, she took care of every detail! We really appreciate what they did and can truly recommend this place for everyone willing to get married in Zanzibar or just to have a pleasant relaxation by the beach.
I think the best part about Hotel Verde Zanzibar is the staff. The people they have are excellent in all aspects. Starting from the people that picked us from the airport, we experienced excellent service. The facilities are excellent and always clean and well kept and maintained as well. Everything about Hotel Verde Zanzibar is excellent.
Michamvi
We enjoyed our 3 night stay at Baladin at the after an amazing Tanzania safari with Eggy. We wish we would have stayed one more night as it went very quick. The staff helped arrange a snorkel trip and tour into Stone Town. Our room was warm as the ceiling fan downstairs did not work like the one up stairs. Very quiet area of Zanzibar.
Loved everything! My room, the helpful staff, the location and the value for money. The decor and view was also stunningly beautiful and I loved the fact that the hotel supplied local made toiletries by Inaya Zanzibar. I could've stayed a week, it was a piece of Zanzibar heaven. Definitely will be back.
Amazingly nice and helpful staff. Super quiet environment and just a 2min walk to the beach. Best dinner in Nungwi, we have never seen anything comparable to their quality and presentation of the food. Rooms were just perfect and very clean, best shower we had during our 3 weeks in Tanzania and Zanzibar.
I loved the seclusion of the location and how catered the experience was. The staff was wonderful and the food was the best we had on the island (and we traveled around a bit). I highly recommend Hotel on the Rocks. It was much better than the other property we stayed in Zanzibar.
breakfest is good according to zanzibar stanards (whis in terms of food are very poor) i would not consider it as better comparing to what you get in e.g. 4 star hotels in south east asia. very good wifi (comparing to other hotels where i stayed in zanzibar)
The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. I was very pleased with my stay at Antonion Garden Hotel and would highly recommend this place for anyone staying in Stone Town. I will definitely be staying here again if I return to Zanzibar.
The architecture of the hotel, such an authentic Zanzibar building. The staff are all warm, welcoming and friendly. The breakfast was excellent. The rooms are immaculate. The food is good. The location is the best in Stone Town.
The hotel has the best staff we ever met. Everybody was nice with us from morning to evening. The location is amazing, sea view, beautiful architecture, big space, modern furnitures. The area is the best one in Zanzibar.
Fantastic resort. Beautiful and super clean rooms, fantastic landscaping and architecture, great location, excellent food, perfect service. Overall superb.
