My husband and I always stay in the hotel when we are in Stellenbosh. The location is perfect right in the middle of the town, so many restaurants and bars around but it’s so quiet inside. Breakfast is very nice and delicious, so many options available . We loved avo toasts and eggs Benedict. If the weather is warm enough you can sit in the beautiful courtyard. One important thing is the room was very warm and cozy which is very nice because of the weather in August was terrible it was rainy and cold outside. The stuff is very nice and friendly. The service is high level, they even prepared our room every night to sleep comfortable which was very impressive. You just feel all the time that the staff takes care of you. It was lovely to stay in the hotel. Looking forward to come back again.

I booked 3 villas for my extended family and expend the Christmas holidays here. We liked everything and enjoyed every minute of our stay. The villas were big, had amazing views and the personal was extremely friendly. The location was also great: quiet, close to town and in a secured estate.

This is the second time we have been here, this time with our son. We were here in 2015 as a newlywed couple and again now with a 7 year old. Both experiences were excellent but different as we are now a family. The game drives are exactly as described on the site, and the guides go above and beyond with explanations - in fact, I wish we had done more research beforehand to ask more interesting questions, since the guide knew much more than we were capable of asking. We were lucky to see most of the animals up close, keeping in mind that a 10,000 hectare area is a wide area for the animals to roam. 10/10 for the staff - we arrived late for breakfast and they brought us food and coffee free of charge! This is a very family-friendly place and our son had a blast in the pool. Also, this is a real refuge for animals as there are many rescued animals and they have a 24/7 rhino security team to ensure they are safe. In a nutshell: exactly as described with a staff that goes above and beyond. Even the drive over was pleasant and comfortable with a very clean, cool van and a kind and safe driver. Thanks Craig!

the wide open space of the main building with Restaurant and Lounge facilities. The nature of the surrounding gardens/lake views as well as the outdoor pool facilities. Free breakfast and mini bar are a welcome addition to the price package. Save parking for our car and enough walk ways on the property are also appreciated, as well as the heating/aircon was great to keep the winter chill at bay.

The property is amazing, rooms are comfortable, and it is located in amongst many wonderful wineries and restaurants. The wine farm and restaurant on property are very nice, and the artwork on grounds is fabulous. Stunning setting in a jaw-dropping location. Loads to do in the form of organised activities (like rock art guided tour, game drive etc) and self-directed activities (hiking, running etc). Lazing by the pool was also a favourite as ours. The food was high quality, beautifully presented and the service was great, the staff so friendly and attentive.

Our visit to Paarl, South Africa was truly special for me, my husband, and our dog Klippies. From the moment we arrived, the town felt calm, welcoming, and easy to settle into — the kind of place where you can breathe a little deeper and slow down. We loved the beautiful scenery, with the mountains and vineyards creating a peaceful backdrop to our days. Paarl is wonderfully central, which made getting around effortless, whether we were heading out for a walk, grabbing a coffee, or simply exploring the town at our own pace. It never felt rushed or overwhelming — just relaxed and comfortable. What stood out most was how well Paarl suits a getaway with your partner and a furry companion. There’s space to walk, quiet streets to explore, and an overall sense of warmth that made us feel at home. It was the perfect mix of convenience and tranquillity. Paarl gave us quality time together, a change of scenery, and a chance to recharge — memories we’ll always treasure and look forward to returning to again with Klippies by our side.

I lived in Heldervue area for 11 years & moved to Durbanville area in April 2025 due to sale of property & to be nearer to family. Somerset West is a lovely area & really worth visiting with lots of wine farms & lovely restaurants nearby & Strand Beach & Gordon's Bay also about 10 mins drive away. The host Liesel was very friendly & accomodating & went out of her way to upgrade my room from a single room to double room due to date change. This made my stay even more amazing. Thanks Liesel. I really recommend the guest house with a very central location.

A lot of the pricing in this area doesn’t feel set with locals in mind at all. Everywhere you go seems aimed at tourists, and it ends up feeling like a bit of a tourist trap. Even basic things are surprisingly expensive, which makes it hard to enjoy the area without constantly feeling like you’re being overcharged.

I can't say that I explored Wellington.

I can't say that I explored Wellington. Our destination was the wine route & Franschoek. I found the shopping centre that has a Woolworths, to be really nice, as was our food shopping experience. An appeal would be quirky, but typically old Cape restaurants, shops at that highlights Wellington itself. It was a very pleasant stay, thank you.
