Our stay at Cliffhanger Cottages was incredible and we would highly recommend it to anyone. The attention to detail left us wanting for nothing and we were absolutely blown away by the views, visible from everywhere in the cottage, including the shower!
The braii on the balcony & watching the sunset over the mountains are truly highlights of a wonderful trip on the garden route.
Close enough to Knysna for shops etc. but distanced enough to fully immerse and hear nothing but nature.
Some amazing hikes nearby with waterfalls and streams to bathe in during the summer months.
We'll definitely be back next time!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Bayside Lodge. The hosts were incredibly helpful and welcoming. They took the time to explain the surrounding area to us, gave us great tips, and genuinely cared about our well-being throughout our stay. You could truly feel how much they wanted their guests to feel comfortable and at home.
The service ladies were also very kind and sweet. They were always friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect. Their warm attitude made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Overall, it was a wonderful stay, and we would happily come back again.

We had a fantastic stay at Forest Valley Cottages. Mark was a very friendly and welcoming host who made us feel immediately at home. The cottage was wonderful and very private, offering everything we needed for a comfortable self-catering stay. We especially loved the jacuzzi and the unique hanging deck with cushions, which was the perfect place to relax and watch the stars at night. The views over the valley were simply priceless and the peaceful surroundings made it a truly special place. We also enjoyed a beautiful nature walk nearby, adding to the overall experience.

The staff were absolutely fantastic. My parents were staying here and when there was a medical emergency the staff, particularly the two receptionists on duty that evening and the security guard, were super helpful and the manager even personally brought them home from the hospital at around 2am. The staff went above and beyond!
Room and facilities were nice and modern. Breakfasts were good. Location relative to main Knysna area is perfect. Many things in walking distance.

Beautifully decorated bedroom (number 4) with a view on the forest. Extremely quiet. The main shared areas (pool, lounge, dining room) are tastefully decorated as well, and the deck offers breathtaking views over the valley. The property offers the option of dining (for a very reasonable 350 ZAR per guest). Great breakfast, included in the rate. Great location barely one kilometer from the Monkeyland and Birds of Eden parks.

Plettenberg Bay is probably the heart of the Garden Route, encapsulating the true feeling of freedom combined with nature and recreation. this part of the South African cost line is probably the most sought after location in the world. combining forestry with river front and fishing, canoeing, leisure, natures best and rest.

We chose to visit Knysna as part of our Garden Route road trip, and the drive itself was amazing. The scenery along the Garden Route was beautiful and made the journey part of the experience.
During our stay, we visited Monkeyland and Birds of Eden, which we really enjoyed, especially with the children. However, they were around an hour’s drive from where we were staying.
My biggest recommendation when planning a stay in Knysna is to check the locations of the activities and attractions you want to visit before booking your accommodation. The attractions along the Garden Route can be quite spread out, so choosing your accommodation based on your planned activities can save a lot of driving time.
Overall, Knysna was a beautiful stop on our Garden Route trip, and I would definitely recommend experiencing the drive and surrounding nature.

There is a great restaurant a couple 100 meters away that serves great food, has an brilliant atmosphere, and awesome views.
The beach is just the best place to walk on and just relax!

The Crags is handy for so many great places and beaches.
The Crags is handy for so many great places and beaches. It is easy to reach on the N2 and the locals are very friendly and helpful. The Superette has a very good stock of most items and Bread and Brew next door serves delicious meals and takeaway goodies (B and B ) closed on Mondays but the shop and garage are open 7 days a week. Peppermill, Blue Rocks cafe, Asado, Mobys and The Lookout are all good places to eat.

All round Sedgefield is a lovely town but the roads are terrible.
(Suggest renaming it "Johannesburg-By-The-Sea").
Resturants, CoffeeShops are great. Lagoon, beaches beautiful.
Braai facilities on the Lagoon are very peaceful and tranquil, although require a bit of maintenance. Lovely large grassed area to sit and relax with fishing off the banks.
Saturday market is a well run, very popular market with great fresh produce and other locally procuced goods. Great coffee and food stalls.

We stayed at a wonderful guest house which delivered views...
We stayed at a wonderful guest house which delivered views towards Knysna and Belvidere and we spent a lot of time there. It was a winter holiday so we didnt spend time at the beach and it was an easy commute to Knysna. Perhaps a little daunting for some to drive up - and down - at night in the dark with no lights, but the road is in good condition and the lines are visible.

Nature's Valley is one of the gems of The Garden Route. It is quite, unspoilt and has fantasic scenic beaches and a lovely lagoon. There is one restaurant which has recently been revamped to a higher standard.

Buffelsbaai is a unpolished gem and the ocean and surroundings brings a special kind of calm to your soul that is not easy to put pen to paper about! it is beyond your imagination! We wandered around and did the Buffels Bay Hiking Trail and had something to drink at the Beach Restaurant and the people attending to our needs went out of their way to be so very kind and attentive.
Buffels Bay is very easy to get around to and everything is SO neat and well kept!!

Plettenberg Bay is a sophisticated beach town. so much to do within short distances; beach walks, nature reserves, boat trips, whale watching, kayaking, fabulous restaurants, lovely boutique shopping and art galleries. climate is moderate, and the sea is warm and the main beach has official Shark Spotters, and life guards (during season) on most beaches.
