Our rooms at Himeville Arms were really cute. I loved the barn style doors. The bed was also very comfortable. The bathroom is spacious, and there is a large bathtub if you are a bath type of person. The location is pretty central in town, but due to a delayed flight we got in very late so didn't have a lot of time to explore before our tour left in the morning. I also really appreciated the staff there. When we got in after a long, stressful day they realized there was nowhere to eat in town and offered to have the kitchen make us food even though they were already closed. Thank you!!!

We had a wonderful stay at Mziki Cottage on Penwarn Farm. The cottage sleeps seven (2 rooms with double beds, and a loft with 3 beds). It is perched it a lovely little valley and overlooks a dam that teems with birdlife. The view is great, with the majestic Drakensberg mountains in the distance.
Inside, the cottage is beautifully appointed and has everything you could possibly need. Each bedroom and bathroom has its own heater, and the lounge is just as cosy, with a fireplace that warms the entire living area. One of the bathrooms even has a jet bath - perfect for a long soak after a day outdoors.
The staff were friendly, welcoming and efficient. The cottage is serviced daily, which made it feel like a real break. We especially loved the verandah, where we spent hours just soaking in the view with a coffee or glass of wine in hand.
There's a great braai area and even a ready-to-go bonfire -stacked with wood and just waiting to be lit. Honestly, every detail has been thought of. We didn’t want to leave!

Overall, the place gave off "cheap, stingy" vibes.
Overall, the place gave off "cheap, stingy" vibes. Not value for money.
We paid R17k for 4 nights at Fairways self catering and could not get fresh towels, the beds are uncomfy, the fireplace didn't work well, there isn't much for the kids to do when it's raining and cold. We booked for dinner only to be told they don't cater for kids and there's no other restaurant open. The jacuzzi temperatures are set way too high and ended up burning my skin. The only heated pool for kids gets too crowded, another heated pool for kids would be great.

The location is excellent .
The location is excellent . Close enough to sani pass and close to underberg where there are many activities like tubing and hiking . Abundant in bird life . Many eating places , some are excellent fine dining places and others were little family owned diners . Highly recommended is B”s Bistro in underberg . Delicious food , stunning scenery and extremely kind and warm owner B and Rob the chef .

Electricity cut of many times during our stay due to the switch tripping. Drain clogged in shower. Carpets not vacuumed but only swept with a broom, which was evident in our continuous sneezing upon entering the room. Geyser switch tripped on checkout day and therefore we could not shower in our room. Rooms need to be better maintained and cleaned.

There are several resorts and a number of smaller accommodations in this picturesque valley, a hotspot for nature lovers and hiking enthusiasts. It is close to the famous Sani Pass, where 4X4 enthusiasts can ascend one of the highest and most scenic trails in Southern Africa. The town has charming shops and eateries, and many of the resorts offer a host of activities, restaurants and outdoor adventure options.

We had such a lovely time, from the accommodation, the staff, the food and surroundings were great.
The only problem we had was that our shower was leaking in the bathroom, and the whole bathroom was under water. but the staff moved us to another room, the shower did not leak, but all the tiles was loose in this bathroom as well. Just think the bathrooms needs some maintenance

The Whistling Goat is an absolute gem.
The Whistling Goat is an absolute gem. The owners are hands on and very friendly. We ate breakfast there twice and both times the food and the service was outstanding. We also ate a meal at SPEIRS. This was a wonderful experience and I highly recommend a visit. Other places where we ate were The Lemon Tree Bistro, The Olde Duck, Moorcroft Manor and The Grind. I do not recommend that you eat at The Grind if you enjoy good food. The service there was awful and the food was not good at all.
A trip up Sani Pass is an absolute must!! DON'T FORGET YOUR PASSPORT!! We, sadly did not have our passports with us. So, I guess we're going to have to go back for this adventure.
Unless you have a 4 x 4 vehicle I most definitely do not recommend that you take the sand/gravel road to Nottingham Road. It is definitely NOT a normal vehicle friendly road.

Potholes are ridiculous getting to underberg.
Potholes are ridiculous getting to underberg. So many & close to each other. Definitely cause damage to your car tires / rims.
Once to get to underberg, spar and other stores are convenient.
Being close to the berg is beautiful
