But, most importantly, the hosts are incredibly kind and thoughtful. They made our stay extra special. Can't wait to come back one day!

The luxurious Royal Savoy - Ocean Resort is set amidst tropical gardens in the Bay of Funchal, featuring 2 heated lagoon-style pools and private ocean access. Superb location with direct access to the sea - (however there is no beach but rock-set steps to the water ). There is a huge sun-lounging terrace with plenty of sun-beds . Hotel was originally a time share apartment building which has been converted to a hotel . The suite rooms have a separate kitchen and there is room service available so private dining on the terrace is a very pleasant availability .

Much bigger, and luxurious than what the photos on Booking showed. The bedrooms were very large, well-appointed and had the very best of mattresses and linen. A pure pleasure which led to the best sleeps, night after night. The kitchen was excellently equipped and there is a lovely pool and outside area with amazing views over the hills and sea. Communication with Lily, the owner, was perfect.

Saccharum - Resort & Spa is a luxury 5-star design hotel located on Calheta Beach, between the mountains of Madeira and the Atlantic Ocean. Really cool design to this hotel. Great breakfast buffet and amazing swimming pools. This may be my favorite hotel on the island.

Savoy Calheta Beach, facing the Atlantic Ocean, is located on Calheta Beach. This 4-star hotel features indoor and outdoor pools, spa, gym and access to the sea via the beach. Big variety of food, very friendly to vegetarians and food intolerances. Beautiful destination. One of 2 white sandy beaches available. Reception had many ideas for activities and could help with loads of suggestions. Quiet and family friendly crowd, great staff. Many organised activities. Exceptionally clean. Show every night with live music. The family suite was very big with 2 rooms and 2 bathrooms, a balcony and a kitchen.
