Dorá is an old Hotel property, like many Hotels in the Downtown (microcentro) B.Aires. It needs remodeling, as the flooring and bath metal fixtures are old. Contrary to Argentinian standard practice of fixing room prices in dollars, the Hotel only accepted ARS currency, no foreign currency. Beware of the TAX (VAT) incidence, if you pay in cash. The Hotel adds 21% VAT, which should be exempt for non-Argentinian residents, according to this strange Law. As a non-resident, then I paid on a foreign credit card to avoid VAT charges. Beware.

The location is good, just one block from Florida pedestrian street, full of shops. Liked that. Buffet breakfast is just OK, and the hotel staff arranged a sandwich bag at my early morning check-out. The bed was comfortable, and the superior room had just enough space - including a bed for a third single guest and a small working desk. I stayed just one night and have no complaints.

The restaurant is undersupplied. The building has a central cooling system that was not enough at night during the heat wave.

Very good breakfast, wonderful water pressure, overall the bathroom was great.

The air conditioning system is central. You cannot control the temperature. It was over 90 F in the city. It was probably about 80 in the room which is 7 degrees warmer than I like it. I want to control the heat and air conditioning with an individual control like I would have at a Motel 6 in the US. The power went off twice. It was the fault of the electric company but if you were stuck in an elevator it would take them time to get you out. It happened twice in the two days we stayed there. We saw the entire street out one of the times.

Would be great if more plugs were added to the rooms as I had to charge my mobile in the bathroom and had trouble closing the door.

I saw that the cleaning in the breakfast room was done with the same cloth on the tables, around the food and on the floor!!

The hotel is in a very good position and although is a little bit run down the front desk staff is amazing, so helpful and kind and my high grade has to do a lot with them.

THERE WERE MITES IN THE ROOM! I have videos to show. We moved rooms because the air conditioner wasn’t working in our first room in the 80 degree F heat. When we asked to move into a room with working AC, the room they gave us had mites!! I took video. It was 1 AM, so we could not find another room anywhere else. So we went back to the first room, but none of us could sleep because we were so worried about the mites being rampant the building. I chose this hotel because it was rated well online, its false advertising on the websites’s part

The toilet has a weird arrangement (I attached image to show how uncomfortable it can be if you are a taller person). Our “double” bed was two single bed tucked together so there was an uncomfortable dip in the middle. During our stay one of the elevators were not working, it had taken us 20mins to realised this because there was no signs shown to say that it wasn’t working. One of the customers showed us another way to go down the stairs and it was through the fire/emergency exit doors. Within the exit doors, there was a pile of bits and bobs next to the door and on the side of the path there was 2 old mattresses! (These exits should be clear in case of an emergency!!!) *images attached It wwas also extremely loud, even with the windows closed, we could hear everything outside.

The location was great (close to grand pacific mall, other shops and restaurants) Breakfast has a lot of options!
