Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BrazilIt’s far from the city center, so, if you want to grab something to eat, you have to buy it before going to the hostel. There’s a free transportation, but it will take you around 30 minutes.
Pablo is very friendly and helpful with the guests. He gave us some good ideas and help us so much during our stay. The room was super comfortable and has a beautiful view from the mountains.

BelgiumUnfortunately the bathroom on the first floor, where the rooms are, was broken, so there was only the 1 toilet and 2 showers downstairs which was ok for me but may get crowded when the hostel is full. It all comes down to expectations I think...I didn't expect luxury, but a small cosy cabin with few rooms away from the city and that's what I got... so no complaints!
I liked the wooden mountain cabin and the spacious room. It's small and cosy, basic but comfortable enough for me. Simple breakfast with toast coffe or tea around a shared table. You can perpare your own meals in the kitchen. The owner, Pablo, makes you feel at home, gives you the necessary info and took me and the other guest in his car to where we had to be in the morning. If Pablo is not there (he was visiting a sick family member, when I arrived) and you're a solo traveller you may feel a bit isolated high up the hill. The posada is ideal if you want to stay off the beaten track and go hiking. If you follow the road until the end (about 20 minutes walking) you come to a hiking paradise, ideal if you want to get a taste of Patagonia and don't have time to go there:). There is a convenient small public bus stopping very close to the hostel, taking you on the unpaved roads up and down the hill and through the local fast expending suburbs showing you a very different side of Ushuaia from what most tourists see. The bus times are not very precise, can be earlier or later than expected, so expect to spend some time waiting outside.

BrazilEven with a free minivan going every 30 minutes to downtown, being far from the city its a little bad, sometimes it takes 1 hour to go to the city. Another point I didn't like is that because I had an very early bus (7am) they couldn't drive me to the bus station.
Very warm place and very close to the mountains

ArgentinaIt is a bit far from downtown, but there is a transfer that runs every 30 min from hostel to downtown. It would be great to have more outlets closer to beds to charge devices.
It is a cosy place. Owner is very friendly and helpful. Room was warm and comfortable.

Singaporelocation is a tad far from the town centre (30-40mins by bus, 15mins by taxi) however a small price to pay considering the accoms located at downtown is at least 4-5 times more expensive
clean and as advertised, staff is an old chap who speaks basic english but very friendly, will sponsor your first cab ride from the airport to the hostel and will even show you around downtown in his car, will definitely recommend to any solo travellor on a budget

PolandIn my opinion it would be better to accomodate smaller amount of guests (very limited space in the room) for some higher price.
Very nice owner, Pablo was very willingly helping us to arrange trips- he knew all the deals and everyone running travel agencies. He also picked us up from the airport and drove us back without any fee- the same was with all other favors- he was sacrifing his time to help us. It was a great pleasure to meet him.

CanadaRude, aggressive male owner that used his son, daughter in-law and a poor 21 year old volunteer girl to physically intimidate me to force me to pay cash for my stay and take a fake, poor exchange rate on threat of being thrown on the street after a twelve hour bus ride at midnight in the winter. I had to call Booking for help after the owner threatened me to affirm that the owner was lying about not taking credit card and to help keep me from getting thrown on the street. The owner and his son were spiteful for not being able to take advantage of me and they kicked me at checkout time at 11am without preparing breakfast. I wouldn’t stay here if I was a woman. It’s not safe.
It’s close to a few good trails

SingaporeThe room was not ready at 5 pm. We waited for close to an hour for the host to arrive, only to find out we had to wait even longer for the room to be prepared. The room had the owner's belongings, the toilet had no lock, many other male guests were in the house, and the toilet could not flush. The property is very far on the outskirts, and there is no safe way to park the car. Avoid.

Italywe were asked a higher price than indicated by booking. The owner was justified attributing it to the currency exchange... insisting we got the correct price. is absolutely not a hostel, it is the owner’s house that uses the common living room as its own. There are in fact always his dogs. On the last day they wanted to change the room, which is a nice inconvenience because it involves doing the backpack once more. We changed hostel for the last night. Cleaning not the best honestly, the sheets did not look clean and even if they had been the duvet had no duvet cover which is not very hygienic
The room is very nice, as is the structure. Breakfast is simple but very good (homemade bread). no problem for the distance to the center because there is a free bus every half hour

United StatesThe toilet was annoying. Often no toilet paper or it was hand towel. used toilet paper had to go into a little plastic bin with a flip lid that wasn’t emptied often enough. Also when you sat on the toilet the back of the toilet would fall onto your back! Urgh. There was one toilet for about 10 people to use. the toilet upstairs wasn’t working but had feces just in it. The ad says free collection from airport. when we arrived they couldn’t come and get us so was told to get a taxi that they would reimburse me for. I had to bring the reimbursement issue up and then was only reimbursed less than 50% of the taxi price. The place is also a long way from town and the host was often rude or annoyed at the guests. Its been our least favorite place to stay in a long while

ItalyHonestly I find it hard to understand all the positive reviews. The location is not the best but there is a city bus every half hour that takes you to the city. I knew about this but I choose it anyway because of the good reviews it had. First it's not a hostel. It is a simple mountain house (where the owner lives, who was always absent anyway) with an extra room used for 4 bunk beds. There is not the slightest atmosphere of a hostel. Very sad breakfast with some coffee and two slices of bread. I was in the bed on the upper level and with every little movement there was a feeling of falling because the beds structure was so weak. Bathrooms without keys, I was taking a shower and the owner (in his only presence at home in 3 days) stormed into the bathroom without knocking. For the first time in my life I was refused to keep my luggage for a few hours after checkout. The reason was that there was no space in the house (a 200 square meters house). There was no water in the house on my last morning. I don't mean hot water, I really mean water. You couldn't use the toilet, take a shower, brush your teeth or make a simple coffee. And the owner was as usual absent to sort the problem.
The owner was very kind to pick me up from the bus station at my arrive in Ushuaia.

SwedenSuper scenic and cozy cabin, with amazing staff. Francisco is one of friendliest ever! One of our absolute favorite stays during our 4 months of traveling through latin america. Even though the cabin is some distance from town, it is no problem as the staff offer rides for a small fee. Also free buses to town regularly depart from right outside.

GermanyI am a solo female traveler and live as a digital nomad since one year. I booked this hostel because of the good reviews and I honestly dont understand them. I left after one night (although did not receive my money back for the second night) and so did another girl. The place is far away and there is a bus but you will not find the station in the city the first day so you have to take a taxi the first time. The bus also takes qui the a while to get in the city so you have to cook for dinner (restaurant is no option); the is nothing around the hostel; its not really a hostel but the house of the owner; he sleeps in the common area so I did not feel good in the common area; the communal area is also smaller than it seems on the fotos; the breakfast was the worst i have had: bread (toasted in the morning and then laying on the counter for hours) and tea/coffee; not really clean; no hostel vibes whatsoever; also annoying for trips i can imagine as you first have to get to the city to then take your trip; at night no water in the bathroom sink
The only thing that was good was that the wifi was good and there was a bed
