How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

It wasn’t very soundproof and as there were 2 hammocks right outside our room we could often hear a particular couple talking loudly while sat in them, as if they were in our room with us.
The lodge vibe! And the added bonus that it was eco. It was very chilled out and the staff and other guests were very friendly.

We were walking distance from the beach. It was quiet and had communal spaces which were safe for the kids to play and for the parents to relax. The added bonus of a washing machine and clothes lines cannot be missed when you are travelling as a family. Having a small stove and cooking facilities was also a huge bonus.

I felt like the welcoming could be a bit warmer. It’s like the older couple doesn’t really like their job and were quite grumpy. The younger staff was really nice though! And the accommodation was also quite far from supermarkets.
It’s basic, but it’s good value for money I guess. The bed was comfy and the showers were clean. It looked really outdated, but it was actually not as bad as it seemed. In other reviews I also read about having to pay for luggage storage, which was not the case. I could leave my luggage and use the facilities until 17:00.

We stayed when it was very hot. There is no fan or air conditioning in the kitchen so it was extremely hot in there, unpleasant for cooking. Air con was very noisy so we didn’t want to leave it on through the night, but it was so hot we would have liked to!
We arrived very early on the greyhound bus. Staff were super helpful and helped us to check in as soon as reception opened as our room was already available. Our twin room was very comfortable. Had a fan and air conditioning. Outdoor communal spaces were lovely and peaceful. Good location, walking distance from beach.

The walls were very thin so we could hear other rooms talking/plugging things in late at night, and outside in the communal area.
A cute and cosy room, with AC and fan. Common area/kitchen was lovely too. Front desk kindly let us check in a little early and helped us to book a taxi for our early morning bus.

Mattress quite hard & common room lacking entertainment as promoted on website. Stayed for one night due to Fraser Island tour next day & planned a night in. Booked hostel due to advertising about dart board & games. This wasn’t provided, but if looking for a bed for the night - perfect! Do recommend bug spray as site is beautiful, but mosquito heavy!
Clean room with fridge & air con! Location great & parking if you are travelling with a car.

Was a bit cool, so extra blanket would have been good & another pillow & would have been perfect.

The fan in our room looked like it was going to come off when on full power and our key broke as soon as we unlocked the door so we had to leave the door open when we went to the bathroom.
Very cute and cozy. It's a very nice place to relax and recharge your batteries. Lots of chill out space with decent sized common space and kitchen.
