Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.

HungaryI really enjoyed my stay at Karat Inn. All receptionists are extremely nice and helpful especially Aysu. Great value for money. Nice room very big comfortable and clean, good breakfast. Hotel very clean and quiet. Excellent location in a really safe area. Definitely recommended. Next time in Baku I will definitely come back here!

HungaryOverall quality can be improved. They have renovated a few bits and pieces around the rooms but still, most of the things are outdated and flimsy. Sockets weren’t charging the phones properly. However, for the price you pay, it makes sense.
The staff were extremely kind and attentive. Location was good, but because I need to be in the neighbourhood for work. Otherwise it’s a nice 15 minute stroll to the city centre. The bed was very firm and comfortable!

SingaporeFor the price of the rooms we paid, this was a good deal. The staff are very helpful and friendly, specially Aisyo and Ali at the reception desk, who were always available to help and guide us with any queries we had. Breakfast was basic but good, with refills done very timely. Room sizes are okay. Location of the hotel is very convenient - very near (walking distance) to the Baku Central Railway Station, and very well connected to all major attractions in the city and taxis available (we used Bolt app) easily.

United KingdomFirst room the shower wasn’t sealed, so water leaked all over the floor. Very strange issue with payment: on arrival, they said their card machine wasn’t working. That same night, I was assured it would fine “in the morning”. Come the morning, I was given some spiel about the Russia-Ukraine war. I understand Visa doesn’t work in Russia because of sanctions, but this is Azerbaijan! Then was asked for fifty dollars on card and rest in local currency. Again, I refused, as I only had enough Manat to pay for my taxi. Lo and behold, the card payment machine was produced and it worked just fine with my Visa card. The unnecessary hassle left a bitter taste in the mouth, I’m afraid. Also, about a fortnight before coming, I got a scam message through booking.com’s messaging system asking me to ‘confirm my card details’ otherwise I’d lose the room. This is a scam and I hope the hotel was not part of this. I understand it is a problem on this site.
Second room was fine. Receptionist helped me change room after shower issue.

TurkmenistanThe bathroom had a terrible sewage smell. Water pressure was minimal. The shower spewed water left and right and was obviously broken. Cleaning didn't actually clean. Trash remained, etc. Basically no effort was put into it. Even coat hangers were broken and left unreplaced. Obviously no maintenance is done on even the cheapest and most basic items.
The staff was always nice to us.
