Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesParking was terrible. The booking.com site said parking was available, but this was false. And I was told by the front desk that I have to request parking weeks in advance. Well, I only booked days in advance. My car was towed, and this cost me a significant amount. The hotel needs a better way to accommodate guests with cars.
Location was Ok to get to the city center. Not many places open later, and I had long hours for work. Breakfast was OK and I didn't have the opportunity to enjoy it very often.

United KingdomAll was decent, but clearly dated. The room was clean but worn from years of use. There was a huge renovation going on at the hotel, which would've been good to know before. I also feel that the price for the room should be lowered because of this. There was wifi but I often lost the signal. And one of the two flush options on the tiolet was broken. Stay was fine, though I feel the room was too expensive for what it was.

United KingdomBreakfast was plentiful but not of a level of warmth, frankly poor. Also having not been advised of the closure of breakfast room and the relocation to another hotel about 100 yards down the road.
The nice seating area outside to enjoy one of the many Belgium beers on offer,

United KingdomHotel is currently under refurbishment for their restaurant and there was some noise whilst people were working quite late on my first night.
Hotel staff welcoming and helpful. I have stayed here before however the room I was given this time was much more comfortable and I would definitely request this in the future.

United KingdomThe staff are always happy to help with late arrivals or organising taxis. Onsite bar has a good range of beers and is open late. Rooms are generous and some have a nice balcony for fresh air, views and somewhere to enjoy a cup of coffee. Good wifi.

BelgiumNo electricity sockets by bed for recharging telephones etc though plenty elsewhere. Horrible modern art painting of two distorted faces hanging in room - nog to my taste! Bit strange that there was no separation between sun terraces of various rooms - think it has to do with fire escape regs? Neighbours didn’t appear happy when we came out onto our terrace next to them but hey that’s just situational. Our second outdoor chair had been moved to behind a corner on another part of the terrace to other side when we arrived and took a while to find it which just felt a bit uncomfortable - might be good to check they are where they should be if possible before guest arrival, but yes they might be moved later given open terrace. Terrace itself is splendid area to relax in evening sunshine! TV OK for just watching but couldn’t find a way to select earlier programmes - eg last news bulletin, nor to set up subtitles for my deaf partner. Internet connection was very good though. Price was just a little big more than we usually pay - though breakfast is included and it was a nice room. Seems to be an expensive area.
Sun terrace to rear was lovely in evening though raised part of central terrace view to right could be beautified. We closed curtains during hottest period of the day and the room remained bearably cool. Extra big bed was good. Double wash basin and large bathroom with separate toilet excellent. With large rear window closed sound proofing was very good despite lots of customers in restaurant/cafe to front. Our room faced to rear looking down on pleasant rear cafe terrace that was not itself busy on this day. Room modernised and well fitted in standard hotel manner. Breakfast was good! Served with pleasant style, but good details. Bread rolls delicious and attractive - also small pastries. Bacon, a delicious self boiled egg once I worked out how to set the egg boiler up properly, and the most delicious delicately cooked and seasoned tomatoes. Loved the special touch of the old-fashioned silver coffee pot hinting to past glory but almost incongruous now - like the embroidered emblem of hotel on the bed cover - quirks that one remembers. Lift to room was efficient and useful as were 3 nearby disabled parking spaces - free in the evening but heavily used so hit and miss during the day. Sights of this small town are very close by, but opening hours of Hugo Voeten museum very limited so we regret we could not see it - check those before trying to visit!

BelgiumMany people outside and too noisy in the evening. No AC, only old table Fan. Poor Wi-Fi speed and connection. Only 4 outlets, not conveniently placed. 3 of them almost can't charge the phone with 15w charger. No dedicated parking space.
Center of the town. City is really good. Friendly stuff, good breakfast. Toilet and bathroom are clean and new. Clean comfy beds. Fridge and safe present. Also you have a cattle and 2 cups with some coffee and tea. Good restaurant downstairs.

United Kingdom1. Wifi was promised. On arrival, we spent about 40 minutes trying to follow the instructions left in the room to set it up. Unsuccessfully. We asked the receptionist/barmaid, who told us that what we had been trying was wrong, and gave us a different username and password. These worked in the bar. We never had working wifi in our room. 2. We had to ask twice to get the battery changed in the safe, so that it would work. 3. The promised balcony was in fact a fire escape overlooking a building site. 4. The pillows were stuffed with foam crumbs, and very, very uncomfortable 5. We also slept poorly because the room was over-hot. Even leaving the fan on all night didn't help enough. 6. We weren't aware that we would have to walk to another building for breakfast. Decaf coffee was not available. 7. Only one single and one double power socket, neither near the bed. One was occupied by the fan. Lighting was dim. Apparently the owners had acquired the new hotel where we had to go for breakfast. It was our impression that they were so taken up by the new hotel, that they'd lost interest in de Zalm. This is a great shame, as it was about our 4th visit over a number of years, and the first time we've been disappointed.
The location in the centre of Herentals is superb. The double basins in the bathroom were nice.
