The bedlinen and the bathroom facilities were clean. The rest of the room wasn't. Some things are just in need of freshening up and can be forgiven at this price, some stains and damage to the wall and the carpet and out of order lights built into the bedframe for example. Other things are easier to fix and don't cost a lot. A good vacuum clean under the bed, a stain treatment here and there, a good dusting in the corners, descaling the hot water kettle, putting the bottom of the shower curtain in some bleach... A bit of minor upkeep in and around the hotel will certainly improve the overall experience, which now was sometimes a bit icky.

Behind the hotel is a beautiful natural area. The higher rooms at the back offer a view of this and it makes for great walking. The historical town of Diest is at a 30 minute walk with great views. The hotel offers free walking guides in the lobby that show you how to get there (look for the one about Webbekom). Ample parking at the back, well-lit lot. There's also a bus stop in front of the hotel, served regularly during the weekdays, less at night - service stops as early as 21h00 - and in the weekends. Buses in the opposite direction are available via a walking tunnel. The building itself is also charming. A bit close to the highway, but the busy local road at the front gets very quiet at night, making this a fairly calm location overall. Good value with a larger than average room and a basic breakfast included. Common areas welcoming and clean. Friendly welcome by very hospitable person that can easily be tracked down around the hotel if not at the desk.

A couple of issues with the room but was too tired to fuss over them. Sheets weren't clean, fridge didn't work and the bed side lamps didn't work. No kettle in the room and charging 1.80 for half a cup of hot water is ridiculous. Lacked variety of cooked meat (bacon/sausage) on breakfast, as long as you like scrambled eggs and Tapas meats.

The shower floor is a bit slippery even when dry and, since the water is very hard, can be somewhat dangerous when using soap. It's manageable but guests must be careful. This was the case with my room and that of my 2 guests. No blackout curtains or blinds in my room but my friends said there were in theirs.

We arrived at around 9:30pm to a very cold room when it had been snowing - I feel like they could've turned the radiators on. Our family room was also really basic in comparison to the advertised rooms in the rest of the hotel which made it feel even less welcoming. Hotel was damp smelling, breakfast buffet wasn't open until 8am and we had to leave for the ferry at 8:30. Breakfast being included in the price was the reason I went ahead with the booking - however it didn't meet our expectations in terms of customer service, hence I have marked down the value for money.

The hotel is situated conveniently just off the motorway and we weren't disturbed by road noise. The bedroom was a fair size - we had a family room on the ground floor with bunk beds, two single beds and a bathroom with shower. Breakfast buffet was really nice and offered a good range. Free parking on site. It's a lovely looking building.

No one available when we need to check in. Waited about 30min. for someone to appear. The outward appearance of the hotel and gardens seems quite neglected.

There was no towels on my bedroom. I arrived in the middle of the night and couldn't rely on the towels to take a shower. Also, they have A/C but even though it was super warm they didn't give us the remote control to turn it on.
