Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandAlthough you gave us a room away from the lift (as requested), we did hear some people return to their room at 04.00 in the morning. Also, anyone speaking in the courtyard can be heard due to the surround echo. We had to sleep with our windows shut due to this. Perhaps some big plants in the courtyard would help and would also look nice!

SloveniaOnly one for the two elevators go to the 5th and 6th floor and there is a different procedure to access these (you have to call the elevator with the A button and then use the hotel card to select 5 or 6 - not needed for lower floors). According to Swiss regulations, air-conditioning should apparently not be set to below 25 C. This is essentially what was written - in a too long text to read - in the elevator. In our room, temperature was between 26 and 27.5 C for the first three days. On the second day I complained at the reception about the AC (all I could set was time and day) and apparently they sent someone to repair this, but it was actually working only until we first opened the balcony door. It didn't start again for the next two days although outside temperatures were >30 C. Then, on day 3, our room was not cleaned and towels were not changed (no, we didn't hang the 'do not disturb' sign on the door). In the evening, as we returned from an excursion, the receptionist said room service was not available (since mid- afternoon, I believe), so she had to bring a couple of fresh towels to our room. The strangest of all was that already on the first day of our stay I received an e-mail from Marriott central reservation system that my reservation was cancelled. I tried to find out what was going on and the Marriott customer support automatically replied that I can expect a feedback within the next 7 days :) The receptioninst however said that 'in the system everything seems OK' and that I don't need to worry. Well, on the next day the Marriott customer support reached back with a notice that they are contacting the hotel to inquire, but I got no further explanation from them. Upon check-out the receptionist kindly informed me that 'the system' requested that 40 CHF (approx. 4.5% of the bill) are returned to my credit card, without explaining why. Of course I did not complain.
The hotel is conveniently located in the newer part of the town, within walking distance to the railway station and the old town. There are a few restaurants nearby and so is a grocery shop. The hotel is new and is located in a long building constructed along the Esplanade (it looks like an empty platform for some events, not too appealing, actually) and next to the Coupole music club (it somehow doesn't fit to the hotel building and flats, but it was constructed much earlier). Also nearby is a congress centre originating from 1960s. Rooms are reasonably sized and confortable. Our room had a small balcony facing the Esplanade, but it was too hot outside to actually use it. Breakfasts are served in a restaurant on the ground floor. The selection of food was OK with little if any changes from day to day.

Breakfast was a reasonable spread. Coffee machine was decent. Staff were friendly and helpful (includes the reception, restaurant, bar, and housekeeping). Location was very good. Restaurants and supermarket within easy walking distance.

United StatesThe blinds on the outside of the building kept closing, letting no light into the room. There was a water leak from the air conditioner which landed on our luggage, getting our clothing wet. The television did not work properly. The hotel staff finally unplugged the tv. Our room was not ready when we checked in at 3:20 pm and after waiting for some time we were given a handicapped room, which is not very convenient, especially in the bathroom. I would definitely not recommend this hotel.

KuwaitThe a/c problem we had to bring a fan and still it was hot and we didn’t sleep good at night . There was also a parking problem the parking hotel was limited 5 cars only and the public parking was a bit far and expensive as it was 25 frank per day. And also we couldn’t find the entrance of the hotel so we had to walk and carry our bags . I wouldn’t come again or recommend it for someone .
It was clean and the staff was friendly

GermanyA shame that our stay was frustrated by discovering they have THIEFS in their room service. In all hotels I have been I never had one single experience of things disappearing from the room. I was certainly not expecting something like that from a well known brand such us Marriott. Our phone charger disappeared from the room and when making them aware of it we didn't even received an apology from the front desk only a "I don't know what to say to you right now, I need to speak with my coworker". Well what about explaining how is it even possible that something dissappear from the room in the first place or offer a charger in the meantime you figure things out? It is really a shame, that all the good the hotel has was erased in one minute by the fact I didn't feel anymore safe to leave my things in the room and by the careless attitude from their from desk staff. By the time we left the hotel, no apology neither explanation was given by any of the persons we spoke. I will definitely thing twice before going to a hotel of this chain, considering they don't seem to care about their customers.
Well located, modern and comfy hotel.

IrelandThe hotel is brand new and the rooms are beautiful and fresh. The staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly. Even with a very low occupancy on the night I stayed, they still had a lovely spread of food for breakfast. I ate in the hotel restaurant and the food was delicious. There was a nice exercise room.

South AfricaOur stay at the hotel was a disappointment from the time we checked in. 1. When we asked if they has a city map for us, we were told they were "not allowed" to give maps When I challenged this, they printed us a city map not a street map. 2. We has already been in Switzerland for 3 weeks by this time, in 5 different cities, and had been given bus/ tram/ city train tickets to use for the duration of our stay at each hotel. This hotel doesn't give transport tickets - you have to buy your own tickets daily. 3. We were booked in an executive room with an aircon that didn't work. The room was so hot! I asked that they please adjust/ fix it - it just got hotter - going up to 26° 4. The only English TV channels were CNN & BBC news channels. Who wants to watch only the news showing the Israel and Ukraine wars every day? 5. The room was cleaned but we were not given a toilet roll - I had to ask for another one as our was less than half. Having said all of that, the breakfast was good and while small, the room was ok. In fairness, I must say that the hotel reimbursed us around 12% of our reservation price. After spending 3 weeks in 5 different cities and 5 different hotels, this was by far the most disappointing and I must add, the most expensive!
The location was good, walking distance to the train station and the breakfast was good
