Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):

The room is clean and spacious. The staff are friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast standard is not bad and there are lots of variety. The location of the hotel is located in a nice new area but are close to the subway.

Hong KongLocation is very isolated, basically nothing nearby, no shopping, no restaurant. To go out to city central is a bit far. The cleaning service is poor. I found a used towel still in the bathroom when we first got our room. WIFI is weak.

The views of Haicang Bay and Xiamen island from a sea view room are great. Even in overcast weather, the views are atmospheric. The bed was very comfortable, as were the red chairs and the shower. My room was spotless. I had no problems checking in and checking out - the staff were both efficient and polite.

ChinaHotel ignored my complaints. No offer for a partial refund. They said it’s fine because you can see a horrible looking Harbour from the window. This is the ‘sea view.’ Only one member of staff on desk at all times. Long waits. Hotenis like a 3 star holiday inn express but more expensive.
False advertising! It is NOT on the beachfront. It’s in the business district. Long drive from beaches. Spent a lot in didi. Hotel staff refused to acknowledge or refund. Many cheaper options by the beach available. Only one staff member spoke English. Breakfast more like a holiday inn express breakfast. Holiday inn express would be better value 🤣

GermanyYou (booking.com) did not respond to direct emails related to my stay. I am seriously disppointed in your communication and apparent lack of service attitude when needed. I also feel mocked by your question about the Island which was closed all the time without proper warning or explanation. Note that I had asked specifically prior to my trip.
Staff made great efforts to help deal with a difficult situation. On this level, personal committment proved to be best moral support.
