Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThey don't have towels, not to rent, not to borrow. Considering they have a swimming pool. This is odd. Breakfast was measly for the cost of the stay. My most expensive in Costa Rica. The lines to hang washing up are mostly covered by trees and they are dirty. So my clean washing got dirty and it did not dry despite hanging it out first thing in the morning for an entire 24 hours. They don't want you to hang things on the balconies so they should provide better space for drying clothes. Got the feeling the person running this place is stingy
Nice big rooms, beds were comfortable and temperature at night was good. Bathroom was nice and big but bath mats were always wet.. Nice big lockers There are lots of places to sit and relax around the hostel. Nice views out to the ocean from balconies Kitchen was pretty simple but okay Handy to have a restaurant nearby, the staff there are very friendly and it's easy to get the bus to Manuel Antonio/from Quepos.

SwitzerlandVery conveniently located near the beautiful beaches of Manuel Antonio as well as the National Park and the town. Exterior design was the best I have seen in Costa Rica, very cozy and a large swimming pool.

AustriaIt was a nice hostel, super lovely arranged with chill areas/pool and so on. Breakfast was good, you had a variety to choose of. Just a little bit loud during the night whenever people enter. But all in all a very nice place to stay.

Costa RicaAt times the staff could be a bit short, but generally, they were fine. The locks for the lockers were not immediately provided, and it was unclear if they cost extra. There is no elevator and there are lots of stairs.
The restaurant was excellent. The furniture was nice. There was ample room to hang around. The price was well worth it, and the hostel itself was beautiful. I saw incredible wildlife just in the facilities. Honestly, I would recommend to Hostel Plinio even to people not traveling on a budget, especially if they had transportation and the ability to book a private room

IndonesiaThe place is pretty far from the beach Manuel Antonio. You have to take a bus there. Though the buses are inexpensive and frequent. The breakfast (I took traditional) was not tasty at all. Sad that there were no female dorms. There was an old fat man in our dorm walking around only in his underpants which looked pretty disturbing. Also the pool did not look clean so I did not risk to swim there.
Very spacious room, amazing garden, clean bathroom, fast internet, lots of spaces to sit and relax. Nice view from the balcony. The place is in the jungle but mosquitoes did not bother me. Comfortable bed. Lots of fans - so you don't feel too hot. Free breakfast. There is a pair of aras spending their morning near the canteen. So you can enjoy your breakfast watching them.

United KingdomPool seemed dirty. My partner's food was cold at the restaurant. Laundry was expensive but I think fairly standard for Costa Rica.
The family room is great, has a cool raised king size bed upstairs with a view of the trees. Big shower. Also stayed in a budget room with shared bathroom which was clean. Breakfast was basic but good it was included. Easy to use buses to get to Quepos/Manuel Antonio. Lots of chill out places with hammocks and chairs.

SloveniaIt is next to the main road, so the noise was very loud. Our room did not have any windows, just misquotes net and curtains, so we heard anyone talking in front of our room. If you want to have a good sleep, do not go here
They cleaned our room every day. The bathroom was clean all the time. Big dining place and friendly staff.

CanadaThe only challenge for me was there was no AC in the bedrooms, only ceiling fans and other people in the dorm were always turning them off...
The included breakfast was amazing, traditional Costa Rican food is my favorite! The pool is lovely for the hot days. It's easy and cheap to get around to Manuel Antonio or Quepos with the public bus which made everything in the area very accessible. Beautiful sunsets from the top floor balcony!
