    - English is spoken well by host which was great since our Spanish leaves much to be desired - Dinner was fresh, well priced, and tasty. The tilapia was fresh from their pond - Quiet, this is slightly outside of Monteverde town center and made for a fun journey back and felt like such a hidden gem - They have very sweet and well behaved dogs which gave us our puppy fix while travelling - Breakfast is included served with plenty of fresh fruit - Accommodations were spacious and clean - We can't say enough about how kind the family was, we felt so comfortable and made to feel right at home

It was a hard drive on a dirt road for about 10km. We didn't have a 4WD so it was a difficult drive on a bumpy, hilly, very windy journey. It is also about a 20 minute drive from Santa Elena up a very difficult dirt road. We arrived at night so it was a stressful journey on the roads up to the Cloud Forest.

Lovely staff. Nice and quiet location to hear the birds and experience the landscape. The small soccer field was great for the kids to play on. The breakfast was nice that was included. The dinner we had one night was also delicious. The pool is small and gets cleaned out and filled up everyday, it was nice and refreshing.

Beautiful stay and excellent food but 30 min from town

The hotel was not in town. It was a good 25 to 30 minute drive into town on a pretty rough road. The road was breathtaking, but it was far from town, making it hard to pop back into town for dinner or rest between activities. I didn't realize it was that far, but I loved the property, so although there was lots of driving it was still nice. There was also one night that the big German Shepard barked all night. Other guests complained and the dog was quiet the next night so maybe it was a one time thing.

The Property was amazing, driving in we saw hundreds of parrots just before reaching the driveway. We also saw a white faced monkey at the edge of the soccer field. There were several friendly dogs that lived there. The pool was very refreshing, the water was from an underground spring and it was constantly moving. It felt great after a hot hike and my daughter loved it. The family vibe of the place was great and the food was terrific. They were also very helpful booking tours.

It's away from the town center, so you need to drive on a bad road for 15 min (most of the roads are horrible around Monteverde). So, while the place itself is very relaxing, you need to take an uncomfortable 20-30 min. drive to attractions.

Beautiful place run by a family. Good for kids. Good food, super nice staff. Environmentally friendly. Relaxing.

There is no AC. The weather was unusually hot when we visited so the first night we could have used it.

Lovely rustic house in the woods, with lots of birds and wildlife. It was very clean, and the host family is wonderful. My children liked playing with the family dogs who roam around the property & my son played soccer in their soccer field. We had a great dinner with tilapia from their own pond, and a glass of wine. Location is very quiet and perfect if you want to wake up to one thousand birds chirping and not the sounds of cars and traffic. I recommend driving an SUV with AWD to get there. The roads are decent but it’s nice to have the extra clearance. The host family was incredibly helpful with recommending sights and things to do.

Rooms are traditional. Although the location is very pretty it is a little bit of a drive, so you’ll need your own car.

It is a beautiful spot, in nature, really quiet. Best part is the service and the family, they are so nice. The food is good, great portions and fresh fish. There also is a natural pool which is wonderful to cool off.

    Nothing at all.

Location was difficult to find. There are 2 routes to the cabin from Santa Alena. The shorter route is very bad and rocky. The longer route is not as rocky. Consider renting a 4WD if you go there. I rented a Nissan Qashqai and it was struggling to uphill on certain parts of the route. CVT transmission had a hard time coping with the steep incline. The resident welcome committee of several dogs, including 2 German shepherds was very welcoming. Host Baetrice was very nice. Food was great for dinner and the included breakfast served with a platter of fresh fruits.

Only complaint would be not having any comfortable chairs on the balcony, just wooden stools, not great for sitting on for long periods of time.

Staff were very friendly, we had a beautiful view from our bungalow. Really nice family run place. Lovely, friendly welcome from all the dogs. Breakfast was good.

I think they should warn people about the different roads to get there. The one that google maps takes you(from Monteverde) is a very rough and STEEP dirt road that requires 4wheel drive. Luckily we had 4 wheel drive. It was well worth the adventure of getting there!! It felt like a it’s own paradise.

We loved the location so much. It was gorgeous and we didn’t want to leave! The food was excellent and priced affordably. And most of all we loved the kind staff.

Recommendation: have a (offroad) rental car, as you need to take expensive taxis otherwise. We were missing an area to enjoy the sun with sun loungers.

The main road to the rancho was under construction. The back road added a lot more time to get into Montezuma and was BRUTAL. We had an AWD SUV.... but even then a struggle. It added to the experience and story lol.... but wouldn't want to do that for too many days in a row. Again, this is totally out of their control and hopefully the main road construction will be complete soon. I still totally recommend supporting and experiencing this beautiful oasis the family has built (just make sure you have a 4x4 or SUV in the meantime ;) )

Beautiful! Family-run intimate cabin rentals on gorgeous grounds, complete with farm-to-table restaurant and tilapia farm ponds. Highly recommend this serene space. The host were very friendly and helpful - offering info and tips for area sights and attractions around Monte Verde. Definitely a great place to visit with a family with fields and gardens to explore or play a game of soccer. The food --- amazing!! So so good. It's a bit off the beaten path - but adds to the peacefulness.

The host family could not have been nicer, and the room was super clean and comfortable for our family of four. Possibly the best was having Joseph as our nature guide in the cloud forest. His English is great, he is very knowledgeable and was a pleasure to be around.

Huge lovely breakfast with fresh tropical fruits to get us ready for the day. We ate in an open air dinning setting, surrounded by flowers. For dinner, we had grilled fish caught from the pond: it’s delicious. Almost everything on the table is from the family farm. The location is in a beautiful valley with big mountains on all side. The slopes are rolling pastures where cows graze. Tropical flowers are everywhere in March. Our wood cabin has craft wood work, very clean. The balcony is a nice place to sit, looking at coffee plants. The family members all work there: they are warm, very helpful, and they made us feel at home. Beatrice greeted us when we arrived, showed us around, gave us a tour, and told us the story of the place.

We were hoping to get a farm tour but they didnt offer that although we wrote about ot by message. There was not really a farm around there when we were there.

Nice, calm place, perfect to relax and if you dont want to be in the middle of busy Santa Elena. Definitely need a car here. It a family run business and they were all very nice. The guided tour by them to Monteverde Reserve was amazing!
