The cigarette smoke which came into my room 😔

I had a pleasant stay at the hotel, it is very close to Essen Messe, 10min walk,, the room was up at last floor and very quiet, good internet, breakfast was reasonable, you will get some bread, cheese, fruits, porridge, corn flakes, coffee and very good tee with honey, and I love the woman at the reception she was behaving normal and friendly which is rare. But..there was a problem, the rooms were non smoking but luckily the guy at the reception was smoking inside of his room so my room was full of this disgusting small of smoke, at some periods of time, early in the morning usually. I am not a smoker, so if you are one then you will enjoy at fullest. If thet would fix this problem would be a really good place to stay.

The only things I didn't like were thin walls and a not very clean room. I could very well hear my neighbors across the corridor. I noticed one hole in the sheets, the glass was pretty dirty from hard water, and the shower had a bit of mold or fungus in it. Also, just FYI, the hotel is not accessible since it only has stairs, and a lot of them.

The owners of the hotel are very nice people. They let me check in at 5 in the morning, and I'm incredibly grateful for that. I liked breakfasts there. They had a nice choice of food, and it was all tasty. They also let me use their fridge. The mattress was comfortable, I also really liked the blackout curtains - they made my room really dark, so it was comfortable to sleep during the day. Also, I got one fresh towel almost every day, and trash was taken out multiple times. The location of the hotel is really nice, it's close to one of the metro stations, and it took about 30 min on feet to get to the central train station. The neighborhood is quiet, very green, but also close to all the stores and cafes you might need, including Aldi and DM.

The first flight of stairs are narrow and required maximum attention from myself. Towel was a little small but I had my own. The pillows and duvets in Germany all seem to be a little strange to me so I have my own sleeping bag and pillow, in this occasion it is personal preference the bedding was lovelly just not what I am used to.

I cannot exagerate how clean this place was, I wasnt sure if I had locked my car so I popped down the stairs bare foot to check as she was right outside the front door, when I got back to my room (5) I had not a spec of dust dirt or anything on my feet. How many hotels have a stairwell that clean? Bed was firm but comfy. The whole building and room were toasty warm. Plenty of shampoo provided and the hair dryer was smol but mighty. Shower was like a power wash and it kept a good high temperature whilst I washed my hair. Towel smelt lovelly as did the bedding. Parking on the street is free until 10am from the evening before. The host is lovelly and welcoming, super friendly and jolly.

The room was pretty raw. Steep and many stairs up to the room, on the 4th floor, no elevator, very uncomfortable bed and looked pretty shabby.

Okay for the price as such although the room was pretty shabby - the location is nice. Got new towels every day.

The price doesn't allow to expect something special, but for the money the owner at least supposed to try. Alas. Black and red fungus in the bathroom, musty smell, and multi-year deposits of dust. Totally not recommended to people with allergies and squeamish persons.

The location is good, near the city center yet relatively calm. Hosts are friendly and responsive. Equipment is worn out but fully functional.
