How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Some rooms from our group had a weird smell. Definitely, the hotel needs an update, but for one night, it is good enough.
Very convenient, only 30 minutes from Düsseldorf Airport even with traffic jam. Breakfast is good, served from 6:30am for early travellers. Own parking on site.

Very good gym/pool services. Very good mattrasses. Good breakfast. Staff attuned to business clients rather than families with children (attentiveness to childrens needs in testaurant for example)

The location is not so exciting. It always takes a car to get somewhere, especially in winter. But the price for parking was very reasonable. We also stayed in two double rooms. Here the shower head was a bit loose and need some upgrading. But still workable.
One of the least glamorous hotels we ever stayed, but one of the most comfortable. We especially enjoyed the suite room with our two kids. Very practical and cosy. Remarkable architectonic setup with corridors like an airport. Quite memorable. The main highlight for this family with kids was the swimming pool and for the parents the sauna. Quite nice facilities. We had a good time. Breakfast was fine, no special items, but pleasant anyway.

I expected more from room..I paid extra money to get a bigger room with a bath and after all I got totally opposite. Big hotel with potential. I wanted one big bed not to small beds together like a one, bath cabine was hard to close. You can hear voices from other rooms. Someone should change the menu in the breakfast buffet. As a 4-star hotel, I totally expected more.

The bathroom was a little outdated, but clean and warm. In the rooms was a little bit too cold for the winter.
The rooms are clean and cozy, continental breakfast had a lot to choose from. The hotel is very near the bus stop and just 2 stops from the Essen Messe and the U-bhan for the city centre.

No personnel in the wellness area.
The hotel has everything you need for a couple of nights in the Ruhr area: sauna, swimming pool, restaurant with funny waitress are extras. Breakfast was OK (although we have experienced better in Germany). Also served gluten free bred.

It was as bare-boned as it gets, even by German standards. My room was a 10 minute brisk walk from reception. Single bed, one pillow, one towel, zero toiletries, barely enough space to open a suitcase. Tea and coffee making? No chance! Water? A single one litre bottle over a 3 day stay. God help you if you’re on the bog when housekeeping comes, that’s it! No cleaning or towel changing for you! I had a room on the 6th floor with a little terrace you could step out onto, but it had no furniture and was full of cobwebs. What a missed opportunity. At €700 for 3 nights, only the very desperate should stay here.
Location was convenient, fridge in room.

Not able to get coffees and teas after breakfast until the bar opened at 12 mid day.
nice pool on site. great taxi service for us all as there was nearly always a taxi parked up waiting. Very Quiet and still to sleep in.
