Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsVery friendly hosts that help you out with anything you need. They even made us breakfast at 4 a.m. when we went on an early tour. The island is an oasis of tranquility filled with the friendliest, most welcoming people you will ever meet.

United KingdomNothing - just perfect.
Perfect in every way. Marta and Osama are kind and generous hosts, helping us out and extremely responsive on WhatsApp. The room is beautiful, clean, with a good shower and comfortable bed. The rooftop looks over the quieter side of Elefantine and is great for breakfast or a beer in the morning. The ferry is close, regular, cheap, and easy, and the island also has the Aswan Museum and ruins of Abu within easy walking distance. There are some nice restaurants close by too. The best place we’ve stayed in Egypt and we were very sad to leave!

Nice to have breakfast or just hang out each day admiring the view from rooftop Easy access to Aswan via ferry for 10 Egyptian pounds. No cars on island. Amongst quiet Nubian village. Walk to many restaurants within 5 to 10 min. Well looked after by Mata and Osama.

We had an awesome stay at Nubian Lotus. It is a very beautiful and boutique guesthouse on elephantine island. We stayed 3 nights and had a great time. The guesthouse is directly at the Nile with a beautiful view of botanical island. It is very peaceful and rural there. After a couple of days in Cairo it was like heaven. Clean air and silence, except for animal noises which took us at the first night a little getting used to, but on the second day it was a welcome noise. Much better than noisy cars. But for those with a light sleep earplugs might be a good choice. We were also very grateful for the breakfast to go. When we had our trip to Abu Simbel, which started at 6 am, Marta prepared a very delicious breakfast to go. Just need to inform early enough. We enjoyed our stay a lot!!

Location of the house was fantastic, overlooking the Nile river with the feluccas passing by, away from all the hustle and bustle of the city. We spent so much time on the terrace just watching the beautiful view. The apartment we stayed in was spacious and spotless. Shower was hot and strong. WiFi was fast and stable. Marta and Osama were very welcoming and accommodating. They arranged our transfers at arrival and departure, and we enjoyed so much this short private boat ride to the tranquil Elephantine Island. They also helped to arrange our day trip to Abu Simbel, and even prepared a delicious packed lunch for us. Laundry and meals could also be arranged upon request.

United KingdomA little off the beaten track altho whole island is like that so part of the charm. Signs to guest house get you there eventually. 8 mins walk from ferry. Slightly expensive for extras like trips and dinner compared to other places and room wasn't serviced during our stay altho I'm sure it would have been had we asked.
Beautiful tranquil location on elefantine Island overlooking West Bank of Nile . Relaxed place Friendly helpful owners. Room and hathroom spacious, spotless and nicely decorated.Tea, coffee and water provided in room and big fridge . Lovely shaded roof terrace where you have breakfast and can watch sunset with a beer.Marta cooks dinner on request which was very good. Lots of cats and friendly dog!

CanadaI wouldn’t say this is anything I disliked, but as the property is on an island getting there is a bit more complicated. Just something to be aware of, but this is precisely why it was a peaceful place to stay.
A big apartment that looks much nicer than the photos. Very clean and comfortable, and peaceful and quiet. Italian and Egyptian food available to order from the restaurant on site. The owners were incredibly kind and helpful and helped carry our luggage to the ferry when we checked out (around 5 minutes on some dusty footpaths). They also packed a breakfast for us and handed it off to us at 4 am when we were leaving for a trip to Abu Simbel.

United StatesI don't climb stairs well, and the only drawback was the stairs to the room and roof. But that's a personal issue. We were glad we travel with our own shampoo and soap.
Nubian Lotus is a charming guest house on Elephantine Island. Osama and Marta were very accommodating. Osama came by motorboat to the ferry dock on Aswan to load our luggage on arrival and again when we departed. Breakfast was lovely upstairs on the roof. Marta cooked dinner for us a few nights--pasta, pizza--by our request. We asked if we could do our laundry and she insisted on doing it herself. The room had a frig, some plates and a hot pot. The water in the shower was hot and plentiful. The walk to the ferry dock to Aswan took less than 10 minutes.

CanadaOwners are exceptional with their service and the property is absolutely beautiful! The two bedroom suite is extremely comfortable and spacious. The beds are so comfortable and I felt so safe walking around the island! Breakfast was delicious and Marta always accommodated us with breakfast very early in the morning before heading out on our tours. The home is about a 5-10 min walk from the ferry with no paved pathway. The ground is sandy and rocky but Marta and her husband have the means to assist. Would definitely stay here again!

United KingdomI can’t think of anything. Our room (two-bedroom apartment) was well-equipped and comfortable.
The guest house was exactly as described on booking.com The location is lovely, overlooking the lake. We arrived at sunset and enjoyed sitting on the terrace looking at the boats and listening to the sounds of birds and other animals. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The air-conditioning works well and is quiet. The owners are very welcoming and offered us cold drinks when we arrived and also prepared a nice dinner. If we had ordered in advance, they would have prepared special Nubian food but as we arrived late they made nice pasta and also offered us food from the neighbours’ iftar meal which was very special. The area around the Guest House is very interesting and gave us some insight into Nubian life. We were sorry we could only stay one night. We are grateful to the owners for all the helpful emails they sent prior to our arrival we can recommend the Nubian Lotus very highly to other travellers. Note: reaching the guest house is very easy. We were concerned it might be difficult to find a boat but there are dozens (many dozens) of boats available to transport tourists from the mainland to the island so transportation is not an impediment.
