This hotel must have got it's charter as a five star facility before modern rules applied, as there is no swimming pool. Breakfast is reassuringly expensive so be careful. Also drinks at the bar very costly.

The carpet in the room was beyond acceptable. It should be either replaced or removed. It ruined otherwise exceptional experience.

A beautiful room with a stunning view. Paying extra to have a room with a balcony on the sea side is worth every penny. Loved it!! A rich history, classic hospitality, and a touch of glamour.

Found Santiago at breakfast a little surly, maybe more so because all other staff were so friendly.

The reception staff were fabulous. A shout out to Paula who checked us in. She dealt with some demanding people ahead of us with professionalism and calmness. She was really kind to us and I hope she had more people be kindly to her afterwards.

Hotel restaurant was not open on a Wednesday night so had a 25 minute walk to the restaurants in Santander and a walk back up-hill to the hotel.

The most exclusive location in town. The hotel is steeped in history but filled with modern day amenities. We had a lovely view to the sea and a balcony. The shower gel and toiletries were very nice and the shower water pressure and fixtures were top of the line! Great bathroom and great toilet paper :-) The breakfast was top of the line and the food and service at the breakfast salon and at the lounge was also great. Good job! The best and most important feature of this hotel is that ALL the staff were exceptionally kind, friendly, and helpful. Everyone seemed as if they were enjoying their work and were happy to assist. I don't know if this is a Cantabrian quality of all the people in that city or simply the best training, but surely the staff at this hotel are the nicest and friendliest people in all of Spain. Congratulations. I would stay here again, only for the service.
