Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomConfirmed my arrival time at booking. Received a message on the morning of my arrival to confirm again, which I did. Arrived at the "hotel" and was met with a locked front door and no answer when ringing the doorbell! Had to make an expensive international call to the number on the door. A bloke answered who couldn't speak a word of English. Half an hour later a young lad arrived. He did speak English but had decided to pop down the shop instead of welcoming his last arriving paying guest of the day. No apology, no "enjoy your stay". Only "your room is upstairs". Then he went back to his. Didn't see him the next day. This is not how you run a hospitality business. If you are expecting guests to arrive at a specified time, you make sure to be there and greet them, especially if they arrive late. I'd had a long journey and just wanted to wash, stretch out and relax. They were quick taking my money though, one week before arrival. There is no reception. This chap seems to come and go as it pleases him. The only emergency contact I saw was the number on the front door, and you need to learn Spanish before calling. No hairdryer, no bidet, no glasses, no fridge, no shower gel (only shampoo), and the small window only opened on some strange enclosed space. No view what so ever. Rather claustrophobic. The TV screen was minuscule, you'd need binoculars to watch. The towels would have benefited from some fabric softener, rough as sandpaper. In the morning someone seemed to have a psychotic episode, there were loud strange noises and commotion downstairs that woke me up. Splash some extra cash and stay somewhere else! This place has a loooong way to go.
Nothing special. You get what you pay for. AC worked though, wi-fi so-so.

United KingdomPerhaps its because my travelling companion and I have been spoilt by other hotels that we frequented during our stay in Portugal and Spain but we found the Imperial not to be worthy of your 3 stars. At the time of booking we were not aware that the Imperial was a hostel and not a hotel. This needs to be made more clear on your website. There is no parking on site, though the website implies there is. The parking is run by the local council, is not secure and costs €15 a day not €11 as advertised and advised to us by the hotel receptionist. The room we were allocated had 2 single beds and a bunk bed pushed up to the window which we could not access or draw the curtains. There was noise from the patio which was immediately outside of our room. The air conditioning was not working properly (it was stuck on 25 degrees and would not go lower) and when we pointed this out, the receptionist said what did we expect - this was Spain and that was cool for Spain! We pointed out that we lived in Spain and our air conditioning went down to 16 degrees! He reluctantly agreed to show us a different room with air conditioning that worked, albeit with a very small bathroom and stained bath. He implied that there would be a cleaning charge for the room we had vacated, which we strongly argued as we had only been in there for 5 minutes. On the website it mentions that there is a flat screen but it was so tiny it was more like a computer monitor and there was only 1 wardrobe door, no plugs in the bathroom and no hairdryer. The protective cover to one of the beds had perished making it very uncomfortable to sleep. Reception was also unmanned at 6.45pm so we could not enquire about a hairdryer.
