Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThere were mosquitoes and we had to block gaps in the walls to keep them out. Happy hour was a bit sad - beer is reduced from $7.50 to $7, nothing else. Activities were limited and repeated. It was a bit scary going down the boat channel when the tide was out to get to the coral. Bure 1 was next to the dive shop and there is no wall between the divers taking breaks and the bure.
Our bure was right on the beach which was fabulous. The food was good - plentiful, lots to choose from and quite tasty. Except for the Fijian night, dinner was a la carte. Particularly enjoyed the Fijian night which included meat cooked in a pit (hangi style) and cava drinking. Coral was lovely and there was a nice walk on the island to the summit. The bull shark dive was amazing. Being older, I asked them to look after me and I did practically nothing - VIP treatment. A percentage of the profits go the islanders.

AustraliaAside from the gorgeous views, water, and sea life, the staff at Barefoot really stand out. They were so kind and warm to guests, going above and beyond. The food buffet options were always vast, fresh, and delicious. Easy to find veg, vegan, DF, whatever food options which isn’t always easy to find in resorts! The shark snorkel was a once in a lifetime opportunity! Must see!

AustraliaWe didn’t really mind as we were here on holidays, but there is no/poor phone reception for Digicel (so no internet) and the WiFi at the bar area doesn’t really work well - just something to keep in mind if you’re planning to work remotely.
We loved our stay at Barefoot Kuata! The beachfront bure was amazing, with an incredible outdoor bathroom. We had a slight problem with no hot water and this was fixed within 5 minutes of letting the staff now. The food is in buffet style and delicious, with lots of choices. We did the introductory shark dive and highly recommend this for anyone visiting the resort, such a unique experience. The hike to the summit of the island is also worth it and offers amazing views. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming.

AustraliaVery minor things: the meals were sometimes a bit bland (but still good) - some more spices and salt would make it perfect. Kayaks were not available (broken during our stay).
The location is stunning - huts located next to a beach on a tropical island with just this one resort. Everything from the welcome, through the service to the bure was exceptional. We loved the outdoor bathroom, it was clean, spacious and lovely - bathing under the stars was a great experience. Food selection was wide, and as vegetarians we always had at least 3 dishes to select from. Snorkeling was mind-blowing, the reef by the beach matching if not exceeding Great Barrier Reef. The beach itself is white and sandy, great for walking, sunbathing or games. It's one of the best places we've ever visited. We stayed in a beachfront bure, which means we had some private space around the hut and direct, private access to the beach, so this definitely affects out experience, but all the other accommodation options looked nice as well, if a bit less spectacular. Everything was well organized, you could be on Fiji time yourself, but everything else operated as it should. We did one paid activity, snorkeling with the sharks, and it was worth the money. It looked ethical - just being ferried by a boat to a place where the reef sharks live and observing them there. Nobody treated the animals as attractions, or altered their habitat or behavior in any way (i.e. feeding).

Fantastic stay. The island is beautiful, and the staff really make your stay amazing. We stayed in the dorms which were tents, but very clean (cleaned every day), comfy beds. The food is amazing, drinks reasonably priced.

JapanNot spending a few more days: 2 nights were too short. 3 or 4 days would have been perfect before moving to the next resort.
Amazing stay at Barefoot Kuata, with its exceptionnal location, warm hospitality, stunning front beach bure - special mention to the outdoor shower. The food was also great and we had the best experience ever with the Awakening Bull Shark Dive. A clear must-do! Even if you are scared, everything is well managed and secured with a lot of staff members to secure the dive. AMAZING!

AustraliaOur favourite place to stay in Fiji! Beautiful setting at the gateway to the Yasawa islands. Staff are friendly, helpful and very welcoming. Our tent Bure on the beach was comfortable and had a great view of the front beach. The beginners diving with bull sharks is a MUST and was one of the best experiences of my life. Highly recommend!

AustraliaBe aware that there isnt much else on the island in the way of supplies (eg. a full shop). They have sunscreen and some basic toiletries. Be sure to bring things with you like medicines or first aid stuff, snacks if you eat outside of meal time.
The diving operation was amazing - so easy, they made it easy to book and do dives you wanted to do, and did everything to get you out there, you dont need to lift a finger. I walked straight off the boat and into my bathroom to shower! The bull shark diving is outstanding and you feel very safe. The 'house' snorkelling is also nice. The food was varied and lovely. The staff friendly. The seafront bure is amazing. right on the beach, very private and functional, surrounded by trees - as per the photos. It is the standard you would expect for the price (ie. a little rustic around the edges) but very well designed and comfortable. There are extras like volleyball, yoga, and village tours and conservation talks provided, which is great. The island is small and only has maybe 50ppl staying (?) so great for solo travellers as easy to meet people and sit at a communal table at meals if you wish (small private tables also if you dont want to)! The island resort bit is quite small so if you arent diving/ snorkeling/ kayaking be prepared for some enforced relaxation time!

AustraliaThe dorms are mouldy due to the nature of the military tent, but they are well ventilated by windows and ceiling fans so it didn’t affect me personally. Less manicured than depicted in the photos but I found this added to the charm, as we stayed on a higher end resort on the mainland and didn’t really vibe with that forced-feeling style.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at barefoot Kuata and found the dorms very comfortable, clean and convivial. The house reef was absolutely gorgeous I snorkeled there every afternoon. I stayed 4 nights and still didn’t get through all the things I wanted to do like kayaking and the village tour, so would recommend a long stay! While the meal package price is high the food was great and it’s understandable considering the size of the operation they run here. The resort is staffed by the neighboring village and provided great insights into the history of the island, a highlight for me was doing the guided summit hike with Nacan on the neighboring island. ‘Fiji time’ issues as expected, but who really cares when the island is this beautiful! You simply have the adjust to the way things are done here. Would definitely recommend and return.

AustraliaHave a little bit mosquitoes issues. But insects repellent should help.
Great location for snorkelling and diving or just simply go for swim and chill out by the water. We stayed at the beachfront Bure, an absolutely beautiful and inspiring architecture. The staff members are so friendly and helpful. They even offered to look after my child while we both went for a shark snorkelling.

AustraliaThe internet was probably the only bad thing on the island. This is however, unavoidable because the tower is on the island opposite and apparently 10+ years old which of course slows everything down. Check-in and out for this matter took a very long time which can be frustrating and also accessing the internet on devices was slow so don't plan on working remotely from this island because it just won't be possible! This is for both wifi and phone internet.
I really enjoyed the stay on the island. Everything about the resort from the facilities, location to the staff and the dive centre was just amazing! I cannot recommend this place enough! During my travels through the islands I just kept telling people how great the island stay was and diverted many of their plans to include Kuata on their holiday! Dorms are cleaned daily with beds being made, there is functioning HOT WATER too which is a luxury on the islands. The bathroom facilities were clean and spacious too. The food was good, I wish they would cater less to the Western tourists and serve more traditional foods local to the people of Fiji but everything they served was great with a wide variety to choose from (buffet style). The breakfast was always the best meal with lots of fresh fruit to offer! The activities offered were amazing - especially for divers! I went on many dives with the team and they were all so accommodating and friendly, and the shark dive is just a MUST on the island. The house reef is insane and there is so much saline right off the beach. Staff was just so welcoming and really made the stay something special as they would always greet you and really took the time to get to know you and everyone's names! Cannot recommend this island and resort enough!!!!!

United KingdomThe food was tasty but a buffet 3 times a day felt a bit too much. We also stayed at Barefoot Manta as well where breakfast and lunch was a buffet but dinner was pre-ordered (soup, main and dessert from a small menu which changed every night). Personally, I preferred that set up food-wise
Awesome location and the island has lots to do on it. Great snorkelling directly off the beach. Staff were fantastic! Did everything they could to make you have a wonderful time. The chef cooks a fantastic omelette for breakfast! The bar staff were fantastic too :) Rooms were excellent.
