Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIt can get noisy as quite echoey and also some rooms are above a restaurant. room 21 is relatively sheltered but not room 20. There are ear plugs in the room for a reason.
The young couple who manage the hotel were very welcoming and very friendly and the husband kindly took our suitcases to the rooms as there is no elevator. They both had lovely smiles and appeared to genuinely care about their guests- they took over in January and we wish them all the very best. We arrived earlier than check in time and they were happy for us to take over the rooms that had been already cleaned. We were also able to leave our luggage at reception the day after when leaving in the afternoon. Rooms are small but clean and functional, bed was very comfortable. The hotel is very well located , close to the centre of La Rochelle and rue St Nicholas has lots of lovely shops.

IrelandIt can be noisy at night as it is on a street with bars and restaurants. My room also had quite thin walls and I could hear the people in the next room speaking in the morning. Again the en suite is quite cramped which I did not mind but some might not like. I would describe it as clean and functional - as expected in a hotel of this type.
This is a small hotel, very good value and you get what you pay for, for example there is no lift which might be a problem for some (for example older people with heavy luggage). Very helpful staff at reception, who speak good English. Breakfast was good value, in a nice small breakfast space beside reception. It is right in the middle of the older part of town, walking distance from the old port and main shops.

United KingdomHonestly I cannot think of anything we didn't like.
Alex, Zena and Letitia were all very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. As we were staying for 4 nights we were upgraded to a larger room. We needed an extra blanket as we didn't like to use the heating at night and extra pillows and a blanket were all sorted for us promptly. They gave us great recommendations for restaurants etc. The location was fantastic. Breakfast was excellent, lots of choice. The heating in the room was very efficient and the bed was very comfortable

United KingdomYou read that there's no lift, no TV, right? Rooms and passage ways are quite small but hey, it's an old building.
The location is excellent, just 500m from the big train station. It's on the trendy and expensive old town, but set back a street so the surroundings are cheaper. Go to the restaurant opposite and ask to see the wine list. They may lead you down to The Cellar. Which is a treat in itself .

United KingdomVery clean, central location. The rooms and hotel has a quirky nautical and port theme, and the rooms although small, are perfect for resting your head! We stayed in 2 different rooms due to extending our stay, and we had no complaints about the external noise from the street, but earplugs are available at reception if required. The staff are brilliant too, very helpful and a great level of English speaking. The car park is a couple of minutes walk away, but it’s well lit and safe, and underground.

United KingdomEven the balcony (superior?) room was quite tight for a couple with two big suitcases. There is no lift!
We had a lovely stay here; its great asset is the charming and kind couple who run the place. The location is perfect for the quayside and historic centre, especially if you are walking up from the railway station. We were lucky enough to stay in one of the two top-floor rooms with balcony, with a view facing down the vibrant street and enough space for a table and two chairs. It was very clean. The breakfast set us up well for the day, with croissants, pastries and cakes. For a treat later on, there was a superb patisserie round the corner on the quay-front. We did not suffer with any street noise at night.
