Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomBathroom was quite tight, with very little room in front of the toilet, but for the location and price it wasn't really an issue. Still very usable.
Room itself was nice, with a lovely view onto the street with a perfect little mini Parisian balconette. Staff were absolutely great, really helpful and friendly. Bed was comfy, area was quiet. Complimentary soap, shower gel/shampoo, and the usual teas/coffees/biscuits was lovely.

South AfricaThe Bathroom is a bit small, but for the price it's not the end of the world and afterwards we noticed that our air conditioner didn't cool down the unit, this wasn't super noticeable during early spring which was still slightly chilly.
The location is excellent, it's super close to a metro station as well as a few bus stops, cafes and a McDonalds. The park & Eifel Tower are all also within walking distance which is exceptionally convenient.

United KingdomThe hotel was perfect for what we needed for our stay. You were always greeted by staff with a smile, they are all a credit to the hotel. The location is 5 star. 10 minute walk from the Eiffel Tower & easy access routes to get you around Paris with the Metro on its doorstep.

United KingdomThere isn’t anything that was bothersome, however, my only critique is that my view from the window was restricted. Nevertheless, this was not really an issue considering the price of the stay for the location of the hotel.
The hotel was reasonably priced based on the location and the hotel being 3 star. My room was regularly cleaned and had basic necessities replaced. The bed was very comfortable and had very soft pillows. Also, the staff were very resourceful, welcoming and kind. The shower facilities were exceptional and modern. Checking in and booking out was simple and quick.

PortugalSmall area, but i guess that's how the buildings on that area should be, and we managed pretty well with the room size.

United StatesIt wasn't very clear that I would be charged for the light breakfast I had. I forget what it was but I remember a croissant, a yogurt and orange juice. They charged me €10 when I checked out. Had I known, I probably would have gone somewhere more interesting for breakfast. Still, it was nice.
Super comfortable little room with a very nice bathroom. Everything was clean and very attractive. The price was great in the offseason. The attendant at the desk helped me out by printing my boarding pass for my flight.

United KingdomThere was building work going on during our stay so the first floor was always messy. There were also noises coming from outside the door which sounded like people walking past all through the night. And the hotel smelt of cigarettes, after airing out the room it was ok.This didn't detract from the great stay we had and we would revisit. Hopefully after the building work!
Lovely staff always happy and polite. Brilliant location with variety of food choices and easy access to the metro and bus station. The Italian across the road is amazing!

Costa RicaNot all rooms have elevator access, some are in an adjacent building that you get to via an open patio, that is not that well kept and when it rains it's not so great to go through, and that building has no elevator, which we needed for mobility issues. That one caught me by surprise, so double check your room amenities before booking.
The location is great, within walking distance of the Champs de Mars, Eiffel Tower, Champs Elysées. The staff is accommodating and the breakfast is quite nice.

MexicoThe shower is very small, but with great air extraction. And the room was very warm. We had to keep most of the time the blinds closed so the sun wouldn’t come inside.
It had a very nice view and great location. Close to McDonald’s, the metro, a Boulangerie that had very good food and desserts, close to the Eiffel Tower. Although it was a busy street it wasn’t noisy in the night. Very Parisian.

United KingdomMy kettle in the room didn't work, i arrived Friday and checked out Monday, they replaced the kettle sunday evening and that was a member of the housekeeping team who swapped it over with a vacant room, i asked reception so many times but i think it was because it was the weekend and there was no maintenance staff on duty
I was surprised how small the room was and a small single bed but it was completely functional with a great workspace, a small but workable wardrobe, i was on the top floor with a room at the back of the hotel overlooking other buildings but not bad to be honest, there is a very small lift but helpful if you struggle with 4 floors
