Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Great location in the heart of Wigtown. Spacious bedrooms. Great bathrooms. Appreciated the espresso machine and four Nespresso pods. Easy walk to the marvelous ReadingLasses bookshop and cafe with its great soup and range of home-baked cakes – also next door to the fish & chip shop which was handy!

Excellent facilities with thoughtful extras to allow you to settle in right away. Spacious bedrooms. Great bathrooms. Lovely kitchen and sitting area. Doorstep walks, with plenty to see around the small town. Lots of local places in this part of the world for kids to enjoy as well.

Beautiful home, immaculate and very spacious. All the amenities anyone could want for a very comfortable stay. Super support from host pre arrival and after leaving. Great information pack and lots of books and games for guests. Would be lovely to revisit again and enjoy eating in the secluded back garden. Really appreciated the welcome wine and espresso machine. Stunning village location with free parking outside the property. Locals were very friendly and offered great suggestions for walks and places to visit. Super selection of shops and cafes within the village. Book lovers heaven with so many book shops with the added bonus of coffee and fresh baked scones. Excellent nights sleep as the village is so quiet. There is a vibrant community spirit with lots of activities posted around the village. The village is pretty with lovely architecture and places of interest to walk to.

United KingdomThe only thing that stopped us from giving it an excellent rating was the oven. It needed cleaning before we felt comfortable using it. It was cleaner when we left than when we arrived.
The location is excellent, right in the heart of the town, we never had a problem parking. Everything is within easy walking distance. There is a small Co Op store a very short walk away. also a farm shop. The house is spacious and very well equipped. We spent a couple of evenings playing some of the available board games and there are some tennis racquets for the more energetic. There was a WiFi supplier caused outage during our stay. We raised this with the site contact, they investigated it and quickly updated us.

United KingdomNothing of any importance. The heating and water pump are quite noisy but you soon tune it out.
Great location in the heart of Wigtown. Easy walk to the bookshops and the excellent ReadingLasses cafe with its huge range of home-baked cakes and great soup. The house is roomy and comfortable and very clean. The shower we used is good and the mattress comfortable. It proved a great base for cycling the Mull of Galloway and Isle of Whithorn and there was plenty of room to store our bikes.

AustraliaThe TV could be larger with better quality sound to best suit the room
We had no expectations about the location. We were visiting from Australia and wanted a few days with family where nobody had been before. It was a quiet, friendly little place and we could strike out for walks & drives and have an enjoyable time. The unit was spacious and light and the beds were very comfortable. The lounge furniture made such a change as we were able to really relax in comfort come the evening. We only cooked a couple of simple dinners so we didn't really test the kitchen fully but it seemed adequately equipped. Spacious and warm, a toilet downstairs would have been nice rather than all three upstairs. it would be perfect to share with others - I would highly recommend it,

New ZealandIf you are looking for somewhere that has a lot of restaurants, here wouldn't be the option. This wasn't the case for us so it wasn't a problem.
A gorgeous cottage with everything we needed. A welcome bottle of wine and Nespresso pods was a wonderful touch, as were the bathroom products. Loved that there were 2 ensuite rooms and a bathroom for the other bedroom. There is 1 pub opposite the cottage and a takeaway next door. There's also a coop 3 doors away. There's a little courtyard which would be great when the weather is fine, to sit and relax in.

United KingdomThe TV had limited channels a situation that detracted from our enjoyment of the house on rainy days and nights. There was Internet access but the addition of freesat would be beneficial.
The house was modern and well appointed with plenty of room for the biggest of families. The location was quiet but within easy walking distance of Cafes and the local chip.shop. The house had numerous ensuite facilities and even benefited from a bath. The house is centrally heated and also has a lovely solid fuel fire in the lounge. All in all a really lovely house.
