The double bed in back room could be made bigger! But there comfortable and that's just me.

We loved the lay out and it felt comfortable for a family. It was clean and we like the loft room. It was very close the centre of everything and you could walk. York is beautiful and this house is in excellent location. 👌

The radiator in the front bedroom did not work no matter which way you turned the regulator. The temperature in the shower in the upstairs bathroom could not be regulated, it was either freezing cold or burning hot so we could only use the bathroom behind the kitchen downstairs. With six adults trying to get ready for a graduation, this was quite a difficult dynamic to manage. It would have been good if we knew in advance that the upstairs toilet could only be used for urinating in due to its waste system. We all ended up having to use the downstairs bathroom.

The property was very well maintained and incredibly convenient. Having the parking permit made life so much easier. There was a lovely welcome pack which was very nice. The general facilities were very good.

Great location, disappointed with the upstairs toilet, but would recommend this holiday house.

The upstairs toilet was a small room and the toilet was limited to wee (urine) only, which was very inconvenient. When flushed the toilet made a loud noise and water gushed back up into the shower. This would wake everyone up in the night. The sink in this room was a small corner sink and difficult to wash in.

Great location, just a short walk from central York. It was a quiet location and we could park immediately outside with the parking permit provided. There were plenty of kitchen appliances and utensils. The beds were comfy and the heating system worked almost immediately. The house was very clean.

    - Unfortunately one car is available to park on the road with permit holders only nearby the property. Another car parking which have to payment the machine ticket and walking about 10 minutes from property. - Problem with the block toilet from upstairs and not allowed to use this through we stayed there for 5 days which I was unhappy because of my dad have health issues and have to use the toilet from downstairs. (the owners inform me know about the toilet problem before 2 days we arrived there)

    - Comfortable to sleep through the night. - Easily to access nearby pub, restaurants, shopping and local shops like local Sainsburys. - Good space the rooms.

Upstairs toilet can only be used for peeing as it had special pump which was not suitable for pooing. There was a notice there. Thus awkward for my 84 year old Mother who had to use the downstairs toilet for her no.2.

    Location excellent.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend, but a few things did bug us! There was not enough crockery and glasses and many of the bowls were chipped. All needs to be replaced. The dining table was very sticky, we couldn’t clean off the product used. Half way through our stay, we discovered french doors and back door had been unlocked since our arrival, not happy at all about this as had left valuables in the house while out. The fridge definitely needs emptying of other guests left products and defrosting. The property smelt damp/musty downstairs, which was rather off putting on our arrival.

Great location and only a short walk to town. Great parking with permit in a quiet dead end street, space was always available. Very comfortable property for our stay.

Some utensils need renewing. The freezer needs a complete defrost as was unusable!! . Extractor fan in downstairs bathroom broken hence mould spores on ceiling. Would have been helpful to know you cant poo in upstairs toilet!. All these issues can be easily addressed. However great central city stay for a short break.

Really central to York and parking was close by. Beds were super comfy too.

the heat was overwhelming upon arrival even though it was cold, windy and snowing outside. I read in the welcome packet that it was on a timer. it seems it is either full on or full off. Some instructions on the operation of the clothes washer/dryer would be helpful for those of us who have never attempted to use an appliance that both washes and dries clothing. Although I didn’t call about a minor issue with the loose toilet seat in the downstairs bath, it needs to be tightened.

It’s an excellent location with comfortable beds and plenty of the comforts of home. We really did enjoy our stay immensely and would recommend the property to anyone looking for a place to stay. It’s close enough to walk to the train station and the Shambles Market.

Could do with a lick of paint. Needs to invest in crockery, only not enough for 6 people. Shower screen upstairs broken. More seating outside. Windows and sills need a good clean.

Fabulous location. Comfy beds. If upgraded it's decor would definitely go back . Just needs refreshing . Apart from that I would recommend.

Although the downstairs area is good the upstairs rooms are a quite tight meaning the double bed in our room was smaller than we are used to but ok for a short stay.

Fabulous location for eating out and exploring York by foot. Car parking permit to allow the car to remain unused for the stay. Comfy living and dining area (though we ate out mostly).

Great weekend in York, lots to do & house very close, nicely decorated, clean & tidy.

    • Stayed 4 nights

Minor issues which are easy to correct were noted but would not stop me booking the house again. No hand towels in bathrooms (although we all got one bath towel & one hand towel left in Bedrooms). Upstairs shower room toilet does not take solid waste so all 5 of us (adults) had to used downstairs loo (behind kitchen) for a No 2! Fan in downstairs loo is underpowered so whole room fills with condensation after a hot shower. Soap provided on handbasins but no towel (as mentioned earlier). Lack of Space to put bottles etc, in upstairs bathroom, where small glass shelf taken up with ornaments. More hooks e.g. on back of door in downstairs bathroom, would have been very useful for hanging bathrobes/towels. Downstairs towel rail & mirror both got wet with condensation, even when window open. TV had Netflix but did not seem to have iPlayer or ITV apps, could not see an info about remote control use. Hardly any storage space in Kitchen for groceries unless the items already on shelves are reorganised somewhat.

Location was great for access to York historical center with everything within 10-15 minute walk. "Stays York"(host) answered any queries quickly & house was clean & tidy. Beds were comfortable with nice cotton sheets. Plenty of bedroom storage space & attractive rooms with windows that open. Lounge / diner nicely decorated and good size for 5 people. Useful hooks in hall for coat/handbag storage. Easy access to house with use of key storage, with combination lock, outside. Road quite narrow, with parked cars on both sides, but easy to park outside house when we arrived and generally space available outside house during our stay. Sansbury's Local about 5 min walk away on Micklegate.

Kitchen was not equipped for more than 2 people as only 2 tumblers, plates were chipped, and the oven was unusable as was caked with months of dirty grease, as were the oven trays. The second bathroom can only be used to pee, and the shower ran cold sometimes, so if a few are sharing it made it hard using the one bathroom. I reported the kitchen problems and was promised it would be addressed for next visitors ( we were there 1st week in December 2023) so let's hope it was.
