Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe sofa bed wasn't the most stable but it would be fine for a short stay. The only access was by spiral staircase. This was OK for us but might be tricky for some, especially when wet. The biggest complaint was with the management company who charge a £40 damage waiver or will hold £500 for up to 2 weeks. This wasn't clear at the time of booking and added significant cost to a short stay. I would avoid booking a property with the same managent in future.
The flat was good, very comfortable, spacious and a good location, a short walk out of the town centre but with free parking. It was clean and had everything needed for a short break. It's a strange comment but the windows were great, really high quality.

United Kingdomjust one alert is that the sofa bed is ok for children but not really for adults… a bed overlay above the cushions would make it more comfortable.
easy to walk in town and with a parking space you then do not need to prêt about the car. Shops conveniently close to get food.

United KingdomFortunately we found the spare pillows for the sofa bed as the ones on the bed were very hard but may want to consider if 4 people staying is there a selection of pillows for all 4. It was quite warm overnight so the mattresses got very hot with body heat - but were very comfortable otherwise Couldn't work out if the lights on the glass cabinet had a switch so they were on the entire stay
very nice size apartment, well kitted out - nice touch with fan in bedroom; didn't cook anything but seemed equipped to do that well, good parking, easy walk to centre; bed was comfortable; would select to come back here again

United KingdomThe bed was a bit too hard, need a radio in the kitchen, staircase had plenty of cobwebs, so should be cleaned regularly, the staircase is tight and steep, a possible problem for older people and when carrying their luggage. Additional lighting in the lounge would be nice, as well as some additional cushions on the sofa.
Location and car parking was great. Good fitted kitchen, good TV with plenty of channels, spacious room throughout with tall ceilings, plenty of linen and towels provided, Good local pubs and restaurants nearby.

The flat was large and well equipped. Good directions to gain entry and easy to find. Close to the harbour in Whitstable, so we were able to walk. Great to have a parking space.

United KingdomIt was all perfect.
Very spacious. Very clean. Kitchen perfect for a stay and very well equipped. The flat was lovely and clean. It was a very short walk to town, so a perfect place to leave the car and walk everywhere. Very easy to find on the main road into whitstable. However as it's setback from the road it was very quiet. Would love to stay again.

United KingdomThe spiral staircase is a challenge, even wearing rucksacks front and back, as reviews said getting suitcases up the spiral staircase could be tricky. Issues arising from the house being over 100 years old, and other maintenance issues.
It’s bigger than my home (studio flat) Close enough to walk to the shore, harbour and shops. A good place to explore from.

United KingdomI was diagnosed with breast cancer after making this booking. I contacted booking.com on 31st July 2023 to advise that due to this and ongoing medical appointments, we had no choice but to cancel our holiday. I asked if we could either move the dates to next year or have a refund. I had to chase booking.com twice to be told that the host hadn't got back to them. In the meantime, I continued to receive messages from the host asking me to confirm my arrival time. This number was a 'no reply' and the message stated that if I needed to speak to them, I should call a number that is answered 24/7. I called this number and got the dial tone stating the number was not recognised! The day after we were due to arrive, booking.com advised that the host had declined my request as they would be out of pocket! To make it even worse, on the day we would have been checking out, I received a message from the host thanking me for staying there and looking after their property.
