How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Great location just a few minutes walk to the city centre and the train station if you need it. Good friendly little pub around the corner "The Minster Inn" that did tasty pizzas. There's a long stay car park opposite which I used (£20 per day) so the car was only about 50 yards away. All in all it made for a brilliant short break. It probably also helped that the sun shone all week 😀

Maybe it is to be mentioned in the description that laundry (3 washing machines) is I n the basement that was absolutely ok for me,just first I was looking for it in the apartment and got afraid that it is missing.😁
Location-close to the railway station and the Minster. Landlady was very helpful and prompt to answer any questions.

The apartment is situated in a fantastic location, just 5 minutes walk from the train station and a lovely 10 minute stroll into York centre across the museum gardens. The apartment was cozy and warm and fully equipped for a comfortable stay. We met Lorraine who was really helpful and who kindly allowed us to drop our cases off as we were arriving in York late morning. The key to the apartment is accessed via a lock box. The bed was comfortable and the shower hot and the apartment spotless so we would certainly recommend Abbots Mews and would be happy to stay there again the next time we visit York.

The only slight niggle was having to figure out the hot water in the shower as this was switched off on our arrival. But a very minor niggle, easily resolved. Also, alot of ladybirds inside all the window frames but they didnt bother us, once noticed we were just amazed at just how many were there.
Location was perfect, a very compact but very well equipped apartment. Had everything we needed for a lovely weekend. Very clean.

Car parking is expensive, perhaps check cheaper options out, the one opposite is super handy, but cost £50 for a little under two days.
Cute as a button, compact, but with absolutely everything you need. Beautiful area of York and so close to the centre. Bonus for a train obsessed son is a breakfast bar with a view of the tracks. Will definitely stay here again.

Arrangement of furniture awkward for viewing TV Could do with an occasional table or two near to the seating to put down cups safely Expensive parking! Beware!

It was a little chilly in the flat, even with the heating on due to the open plan nature of the place and high ceiling. Maybe a blanket could be provided or hot water bottle, not essential, just a thought.
It was an excellent location - only a short walk, 10 mins from the train station but also only 10 mins walk into town as well. There was a Sainsburys local nearby too. The apartment was tastefully decorated and had everything I needed there.

The smell. The whole place seemed damp, specially the bathroom. The rug in the living area felt damp.
