Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Hosts and staff were very accomodating and friendly. The added touch of bringing breakfast to our room after a busy night with the newborn was much appreciated. Hotel, room and grounds were lovely and clearly well maintained. Would definitely visit again after the wee man is a bit bigger an gives us an easier night of it.

United KingdomNothing to improve on a B&B stay.
We stayed here for 1 night to break up our journey home from the West Coast of Scotland to Yorkshire. A beautiful house, lovely comfortable room (Queen Mary), nice touch to have a little fridge with water and a good selection of tea and coffee etc. Only took 5/10 minutes to walk across into the town - sadly most things were shut by the time we arrived but a very historical town. Breakfast the following morning was simply superb, the best breakfast we had had on our 4 day trip across Scotland - it was better than the breakfast we had in a castle we stayed in! William was a fountain of tales of the history of the house and we only wish we had had a little longer to talk to him. If you need somewhere to stay in Jedburgh, even if just for one night, then Allerton House is certainly one to try to get booked into. Thank you Nina and William and your wonderful team - highly recommended.

Beautiful house, had a twin and a double (upgraded!) room and both were very clean and comfortable and a good size, with a little kitchen area in each room. The hospitality was second to none & there was a lovely breakfast. Definitely will be staying again when we come back to Jedburgh.

United KingdomParking is adequate but snug. Arriving back late at night some automatic lights at the side of the house would have made it easier to tuck the car up against the wall.
Very welcoming hosts and a large comfortable bedroom and bed. Nice in-room tea and coffee making facilities (Nespresso) and a couple of bottles of water provided too. The ability to choose your breakfast in some detail the night before I thought was a great idea. The ability to heat the room to the temperature you like with three independent heaters (Central plus 2 x electric) was also excellent. The breakfast was delicious and well cooked although the size of the plates required a bit of juggling on the table top!

United KingdomSecurity light at the side of the house/top of the drive needs adjusted or a permanent light put in its place. There was no room for me to park in front of the house and I couldn't see when reversing back. I found this quite stressful.
Food superb. Wide range of breakfast options. Staff very attentive and friendly. Comfortable bed and everything was clean and spotless. Dining/ sitting room looked lovely and comfortable too. Peace and quiet away from the road.

Scottish hospitality and friendliness at its best. The painting of a Piper in the dining room painted in the house, after Norway was liberated, of the traitor Quisling. My Grandmother was Norwegian and she hated Quisling.

AustraliaThere’s nothing not to like with this place.
This property exceeded our expectations. Beautiful big spacious room, comfortable bed, dressing table, kitchenette, sofa chair and the best view from our bedroom window. Was lovely to be able to walk the grounds in the afternoon and sit outside rather than being cooped up in a room. The place is shielded from the street with big trees and plants giving a remote feel to the place. Food was nice and they move you every morning so you sit at a different table. I thought this a really good idea as you have a different view every morning for breakfast. I found the porridge to be exceptional. This is a great place to base yourself and my only regret is we didn’t book longer here. Hosts are lovely.
