Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

United KingdomThe only small improvements we can think of are the pillows. One bedroom found the pillows to be too flat (with one feeling like it was missing stuffing) and the second bedroom found that the pillows were far too hard & tall. There were some extras in the cupboard but we would recommend replacing some of the existing options.
It was in a great location and central to everything. Our host left us some coffee/water which was really thoughtful. The place was clean and well presented throughout. Despite being next to some bars/clubs the music wasn’t too loud at night either and we could sleep easily. We would definitely book this property again.

Very clean and tidy … kitchen well equipped…perfect location with onsite parking which is a big bonus …owner very friendly and accommodating loved this place. Outside balcony area was nice just needs a few more chairs .

United Kingdomgenerally the apartment was not prepared for our stay...; poor quality standard, tired apartment, tired furniture, dirty/sticky/smelly pans, very dusty furniture, smelly fridge, internet kept going down, yellow stain on one of the bedsheets, inside door handle fell off and locked the bedroom..., tap water smells like rotten watermelon..., noisy construction site..., extremely overpriced, misleading booking.com advert info offers 1560 square feet... but you will get less than half of it...
proximity to the town centre and the beach, parking, responsive host came to repair the bedroom door handle...

I made a booking months ago and the day before our trip was advised via voicemail that the apartment was unavailable as it had been booked out on a long term rental. I was only advised as I had reached out to ask about parking. My daughter was running in the Brighton marathon, this was going to be our base for the night to ensure we were all rested for the day a head. You can only imagine the stress and distress this cancellation caused. No offer to help to find alternative accommodation, I was just advised to contact Booking.com and see what they can do, it’s Monday, after the event, as I write this, and I am still waiting to hear from Booking.com. A shocking experience.
I don’t know as we never got to experience the apartment.
