How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Parking very tight. Grumpy breakfast waiter, he got our order wrong and wasn’t happy!!
Lovely welcome on arrival by reception staff. Beautiful garden. Nice and quiet Comfortable bed Tasty food.

No catch-up TV, I.e. access to iplayers. Biscuits in the room for tea/coffee would have been nice. Little things only!
Excellent hotel, food nice chefs know what they are doing. Having seen several hotel that we'd previously looked at on line they were nothing like as good as Beausite.

Not enough tea bags milk cartons and shower/ shampoos.

The room would benefit from some attention to sound-proofing on shared walls
Spacious with facilities to meet a broad range of requirements. Staff were approachable and responsive to requests. Decor was pleasing and the room well appointed - very comfortable bed

Wine seemed rather expensive. The daily catch of the day seemed to vary around 3 dishes.

English hotels are mostly quite old even if well maintained , but they offer a sweet mixture of tradition and charm .
Very good breakfast , very friendly staff , indoor pool is perfect for relaxing after a day sighseeing , though not big enough to swimm . Parking okay also , even if I was travelling by bike so no big need of parking space Gorey accessible by foot .

Struggling to park in a usually full and very small car park. No lift - we were given a room on the second floor at the end of a very long corridor. Our cases were big and heavy as we were there for a week My husband has asthma, as was mentioned in our booking form. This proved very difficult for him and his asthma took a hit. The following day, we had no choice but to ask to be moved - We were given a new room. The room only had one chair and we were there for a week.
My husband was struggling with the stairs as we were initially placed on the second floor. On the second day, we asked to be moved and I am so pleased that the receptionist made this possible. We would not have been able to stay there otherwise so we were exceptionally pleased. The staff were brilliant. Breakfast really great. Rooms clean and bathroom very nice. The pool looked lovely, although we didn't use it ourselves.

The staff were very friendly. Great service. Food lovely, good variety of choice. It was nice to have the swimming pool in the hotel. I preferred to be out of the city. Lovely walk by the sea. Short walk to Gorey. Shop very close. Bus service excellent to go wherever you want. Easy to use. Advise to get timetable at station. Plenty of attractions. Castles very impressive. Save on entry to attractions if you book 4 together and get 1 free..Worth considering.

The walls are very thin (you can hear the neighbour snoring).
Very friendly staff and spacious room. The restaurant serves good food and the breakfast was really good.

Check in/check out was seamless. Staff were very attentive and helpful. Breakfast was exceptional - large choice and excellently presented. Room was exceptionally clean. Ample parking and great base location for exploring the island, even without car, due to access to local bus network.

It was a little musty and it tended to take a long time before the waitstaff could bring the coffee at breakfast. The first morning we were sitting for 20 minutes and no one came to out table.
The beds were comfy and the front desk staff was so friendly, and when we ate dinner there it was delicious. We overall enjoyed our stay.

Thought our ground floor room would have had a garden view, unfortunately we looked out onto a fence.
Lovely garden to sit in when you’re not out exploring. Although we didn’t use the pool it looked nice. Staff at reception were very helpful and friendly.
