How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The location you don’t need taxis can walk everywhere easily
The property was of high standard beautiful decor immaculately clean The apartment is right in the middle of York and within walking distance to everything Lovely little pub with a beer garden at the back close by. We will definitely be going again

Noisy at night from nearby bars
Close to minster, shambles, shops, station etc. Great to receive text that apartment was ready early. Lovely flat with everything you need.

Everything was perfect
We absolutely loved the apartment. Having the Christmas tree in the lounge was a lovely touch as well. The flat is everything you need, tastefully decorated, comfortable and practical. Despite being so central it was quiet. As it was rather chilly during our stay we appreciated the fireplace in the evenings to warm up. The host was super helpful answering any questions we had and we will most definitely return at a future date.

Leaving! Everything was perfect!
The apartment is beautiful, extremely well equipped & the location is excellent, being just a stone's throw away from Bootham Bar, the Minster & The Fat Badger. Claire, the host is a lovely lady, her communication is excellent & she goes out of her way to ensure that all your needs are met. The Christmas Tree was a lovely addition to a perfect apartment

We loved everything exceptional clean

Double not king size bed, electric shower but would not stop me going again
The spacious beautiful appointed apartment was in a fabulous location. The very well equipped kitchen was really great , With tea and coffee even milk was a lovely touch. White bedding and towels .It was a home from home.We would not hesitate to book again 😄

Not a dislike - just a recommendation - a storage cabinet or shelf next to the sink for toiletries would be helpful in the bathroom - we kept everything on the chair.
The location is very convenient to the city of York. Bedroom faces the back of the building so nice and quiet for sleeping. Bathroom exceptionally clean with plenty of hot water. Loved the high ceilings and the spacious living/dining room and kitchen area. Made good use of the washer and a drying rack was provided. There were two fans which were nice to have for air circulation. A grocery store is close by with plenty of basic provisions. A lovely place - we hope to return.

Excellent communication from host with key code and updated message to say we could arrive earlier than originally stated. Follow up message to check everything was ok. Fantastic property, great facilities, excellent restaurant recommendations. A perfect place to stay.

I forgot to check if there was air conditioning before booking. There wasn't, and it was a little warm.
Loved the coffee and tea options in the kitchen, and the spaciousness of the living room. Very clean and comfortable bedroom and bathroom!

Only thing I could think of that was missing was a coffee table to put drinks on although there was a coaster on top of the radiator cover for drinks.
Fantastic location - lots of space inside and very clean and comfortable. Owners contacted me to say the property was ready for me earlier than the stated time which was appreciated as it meant I could drop off my heavy backpack before sightseeing

A strange very small TV in bedroom, almost seemed pointless to put it in the room. Another normal size TV in the sitting room all good though.

Everything! Perfect location! This place was amazing had everything you needed. Range of teas, coffee, milk even oil for cooking. Cupboards/drawers had all what needed for cooking. Best of all, a washing machine & detergent! Lovely big very comfy apartment. Could not have been better.

Being woken up at 6.30 by workmen working on the outbuilding roof outside our bedroom on the first morning. Everything was OK after that.

Central location meant we could wander and then return to the flat to rest or have lunch and recharge out batteries. The host contacted us after the first night just to check everything was OK-we thought this was very thoughtful. The flat had a well equipped kitchen, spacious lounge area and very comfy bed. It was quite warm and sunny which made it hot inside but we appreciated and used the fans that were provided by the host. Toiletries were provided which was a nice touch.
