How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Bed was so low to the ground, only one pillow we got each, and it was so thin, we both ended up with stiff backs, The Television on the wall was 20 inch, it was really small, you get a kettle and cups in your room but no teabags or coffee etc.
Nice staff, our room was clean, shower was nice and hot, the surrounding area was nice and quite, and they have a bar downstairs which offers 20% off if you are staying there.

Extremely strong damp smell from the room.

Pillows were not great, could hear commotions in the hallway quite easily from inside the room
Location was good, relatively affordable for the area, beds were okay and gentleman working was very nice

Unfortunately there was a lot of noise in the morning from the family/kids running upstairs.
The room was sufficient, clean and a great location for the winter gardens and seafront.

The shower in my room was badly laid out and poor at best. But again the manager was happy to accept feedback and it didn't affect me too much. Curtains need replaced in the room. Something that had a bit more blackout ability than the almost sheer ones I had which meant waking with the sun every morning.
Staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The hotel is tired but they're making a concerted effort to improve from what was a hotel with quite a bad name. The room was fine. Not fantastic. But fine. Perfectly acceptable for my needs if a little small

Would liked to have enjoyed a drink in the downstairs bar - only opens Thursday-Sunday. We had departed.
For the budget-conscious, the Carlton Court met or exceeded all expectations in terms of location, comfort, decor & facilities (how we love a big bath!). Rooms/decor appears recently refurbished to a very nice standard. There is a lift to floors which was appreciated after a days walking .

Bed was not that comfy. It was a lug up the stairs with a heavy case to the entrance.
Great location for the seafront and theatres. Lovely, friendly and helpful staff.

A lot of interference on the television so was unable to watch it. Not what I go away for so not a major problem for me but maybe for others. Bathroom was very small but not much you can do about that.
Location was great, close to the sea. 15 mins walk to the pier and short drive to Beachy Head. Parking easy along the street outside. Permits paid £3 a day. Staff member was polite and helpful. Room on the whole was okay.

Since I stayed in the double room by myself I did have enough pillows and room to move, however if you are travelling as a couple you might find this space too tight for longer than 1 night stay. Also, there is no hairdryer or mini fridge.
I have stayed in the double room by myself for 3 nights and everything went smoothly more or less. The day upon my arrival they had trouble with hot water but this was fixed by the end of the same day. I could see that my room was not the one I booked (from pictures) but since it had everything I needed I didn’t see any problem. You shouldn’t expect more than you see in advertising photos and then there will be no reason to complain.

As said previously the shower was not good literally trickled and took at 10 mins for hot water to come through
Location is great, parking very good also. Room size was lovely and exceeded our expectations. Only downside shower was just a trickle but I guess because we were on 4th floor also took time to get the water to run hot, but room was lovely and warm and plenty of towels, soap supplied and shampoo
