Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomTook a while to find the welcome message and therefore the key. Was slightly odd not seeing anyone.
We loved this place. It was slightly dated but that added to it's charm. Very clean with lots of little personal touches. Best night's sleep we had in ages. Lack of wifi was fine as my 4g was so good there. A really good place to get away from it all.

The hotel is located in a tranquil remote area in the middle of bogland. It has got an eerie feeling to the place but our stay was actually quite enjoyable.

Wonderful remote location in Forsinard Flow, close to hikes. Although no restaurant facility nearby they relayed that there was a small kitchen for our use, and a dining area with some basics supplied.

United KingdomThere was only us and another couple but they were placed in the room above us so we heard them moving about. There were loads of rooms so this seemed daft. You could install dome snack machines such as cereal or biscuits.
The property was very quirky but we liked that. Very remote so not even a shop or pub anywhere near so you must bring your own food. Very, very quiet.

The three people working there were very friendly and kept the place tiptop. The water pressure was my only issue. Showering wasn’t the high pressure blast I love.

PolandNo big issues.
Our one night stay was self-serviced as hotel is remotely located. It's a great base to explore Flow Country. In a walking distance there is a train station and Flow Country visitor centre. Hotel is not new, but very nice and cosy. Kitchenette is also available. Bottled water is at guests disposal as tap water is bogged - threat it like a spa! :-)

United KingdomCouldn't get any hot water in the bathroom and could probably do with WiFi if there's no TV (though there is 4G phone signal).
Excellent location and very clear instructions on how to access my room. Welcome note left for me by the entrance which was a nice touch. Facilties for preparing food were adequate, the lounge was very nice (though I didn't use it).

United KingdomNot a criticism, but just to be aware: this isn't a fully functioning hotel so meals, a bar, or things like that should not be expected - so, having regard to the remote location, go prepared!
It's great to see this place is being revived under new management after several years' closure - it's an enchanting part of Scotland. It's clear that the strategy is to reopen bit by bit, and that's fair enough: hence it being at present more or less self-catering only (but with some bits and bobs provided). The rooms and mini-kitchen are clean and fine for most purposes, and I must admit I rather liked the atmosphere of the dining room with its hugely out-of-date hunting magazines and so forth! While it will be great if this place eventually manages to become a full hotel again, I'd certainly stay here again in its current guise.

United KingdomA bit cold in the room as the radiator didn't work (although there was a portable heater which was good) or double glazing. The water is peaty, usable for washing but not drinking so they provide bottled water. No kettle or tv in the room.
A very convenient hotel for the rspb Forsinard reserve. Lovely old building. Good shower, comfortable beds, very quiet location. Loved the communal lounge with games, comfy chairs, books, tables for eating. Free use of kitchen and microwave/toaster, fridge etc.

United KingdomNo staff present in hotel at check in for any queries of questions. The hotel didn't respond to any of my messages via Booking.com Hotel has a strange smell as well. Heater in room but we found the room to extremely hot so no need for that. Carpets weren't clean, no warning about peat in the water! Very strange guests in the hotel too, some very rude German guy took offense at me taking his banana when he put it in the communal area for coffee! We just presumed it was for guests. We also bumped into a staff member on check out who took offense at me taking a bottle of water from the restaurant for the road....despite you not being able to drink any of the water in the hotel! Extremely rude staff. I couldn't recommend this place under any circumstances unless you want nightmares think I would have preferred sleeping in my car! There are far nicer friendlier places to stay along the NC500 route, I'd give this one a miss......
Bed was comfy that was about it!
