Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):

AustraliaThe 2nd bedroom is quite small and only a double bed, so one couple gets the "good room" and other couple has the small room.
Well located apartment. Easy self check in. Lounge is big giving additional space to relax outside of bedrooms. Shower was strong and hot. Apartment was tidy but not fully clean like a hotel, has a lived in feel.

United KingdomThe PIN number to access the key box at check in had been changed and we had not been notified. The host did remedy this very quickly after we contacted him. The free WiFi was non existent. None of the group could connect using the WiFi key supplied and the host did not respond to the query about this. There was insufficient kitchenware for a place that accommodates 4 people - eg 2 wine glasses only, no small saucepans or milk pans, no cafetière (but there was a smoothie maker and a juicer!) and no tea towels.
Lovely flat in a quiet area very close to the centre of Edinburgh.

United KingdomNo supplies of tea or coffee. Many empty containers in the cupboard, presumably left over from previous residents. Instructions for checking out include washing, drying and putting away any dishes and cutlery used but no dish towel provided. Also had to strip the beds. I felt that we paid for the privilege of staying there but also having to do the work too did not sit well with us. Dirty dishes left in dishwasher from previous stays.
Good location for our visit to the Castle. Great size of apartment for 3 people. Very stylish apartment

BelgiumWe had to temporarily dismantle one of the fire alarms because it kept beeping while the others worked fine. After assembling it before leaving and mounting it again the beeping seems to have stopped.
The appartement is located quite well and the city center is within walking distance. The appartement is roomy with a modern bathroom and full kitchen. Served well as a base for visiting Edinburgh by foot.

United KingdomThere wasn't much to dislike. The bedroom floors were quite dusty and the dishwasher was full of dirty plates! But these weren't a problem as dishwasher tablets were available and things that matter were clean (like bedding, kitchen surfaces etc.) Very comfortable accomodation.
Lovely Georgian house. Beautiful little park in front of the house. Not too far from the city centre - about 20 mins walking to Waverley station. Lots of good eating places nearby.

United KingdomUnfortunately we found that the bathroom was dirty, the shower tray surround looked like it needed a good clean and the corner/floor outside the shower was also dirty, we did use the shower as we had no option but we limited it as much as we could. The extract fan in the bathroom also required a clean and was probably not working to any efficiency as fairly blocked. The towel rail appears to not be working. Even when we put the heating on as it was so cold on one evening there was no heat in the towel rail. There was no instructions about the property I had to ring the manager to ask how to turn on the heating, when the heating was on the hallway radiator was scolding hot with no way of controlling it. There was a dirty muffin tin in one of the kitchen drawers and damage to the worktop that made wiping down really tricky as food and debris got caught in it. My daughters bedroom - bed 2, the bed creaked constantly every time she moved. The main light flickered constantly and one light bulb did not work. There were no pillow protectors and she found dried blood on one pillow. My bedroom - bed 1 - again only pillow protectors on two pillows, with tears to two pillow cases on the seams. It would have been nice to have some useful info in the property, like that the front windows have shutters, we come from an area where shutters are not a thing so it would have been nice to know they were there sooner so we did not feel when in the lounge we were either on view to people walking past or we had to shut the curtains, also some info on the bins instead of having to try to work it out for ourselves. Considering how much was paid for this property for a four night stay we were really disappointed in the apartment itself.
The property was set in a beautiful crescent with a park opposite and was ideally situated for walking to the town and connecting with the trams and trains. The property itself had a lovely entrance hall that was welcoming with a comfy lounge.

United KingdomI was unable to take a shower or bath due to a malfunctioning shower. The communication with the hosting company wasn't satisfactory. The first person who answered my call informed me that they would send a handyman to fix the issue and notify me of the arrival time. However, after waiting for three hours, I had to call again, and the second person seemed unaware of the problem. Unfortunately, I was unable to get anyone to help me. The same thing happened the next day, and for three days, I couldn't take a shower. On the fourth day (11 am check out day), the hosting company offered to send a handyman to fix the issue at 8 am, but it was too late for me to benefit. As a result, I had to spend the last night of my stay in a hotel, which was a significant inconvenience and expense. Overall, my experience was disappointing, but it would have been a good stay if the shower had been functioning correctly.

United KingdomThe heating and hot water wasn’t on or working when we arrived at the apartment on Thursday night. We left the tap on for 4-5 minutes and there was no hot water at all. The boiler was completely turned off and it was freezing on our first night. The apartment was not clean and hadn’t been cleaned properly anywhere! the floors, skirting, tops and surfaces all over we’re dusty and dirty. The kitchen wasn’t clean and I had to empty the dishwasher from the previous guests. When I emptied it, none of the cutlery was clean. The fridge, oven and microwave was dirty too and old food had been left in the fridge and freezer. Some of the towels were dirty and dirty tissues were left in the bedroom draws. When I sent a message to provide feedback to the property manager, he was rude, defensive and unprofessional. He then rang me while I was out and was rude over the phone too. He told me to read the instructions on Airbnb regarding the boiler and if I knew how to turn a tap on I would have hot water! although I booked it on booking.com and there was no welcome instructions in the apartment. The property manager said if I wasn’t happy, I would need to vacate the property immediately and he would refund me. He never apologised for anything and was very rude and condescending. I said I was there for my sisters 40th birthday and there wasn’t vacancies elsewhere due to the time of year and how busy it was. He should not be working in this industry as he doesn’t know anything about customer care or service. We had paid £730 for three nights and I’d never had any of these issues or such a poor service staying at any other apartments in Edinburgh. I won’t be returning as the property manager is awful.
The building was beautiful and spacious and I loved the high ceilings and windows. The location was good and on a lovely road. The hairdryer was amazing too!
