Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomPretty easy to find, great room, fantastic welcome, in easy reach of everywhere we wanted to go. We had a great room but they have pods and other accommodation to suit most people. They also have plenty of outside space, a jacuzzi and a steam room. Places to eat and drink are only a five minute drive into Bamburgh or twenty if you want to go into Seahouses.

United KingdomCouldn’t find anywhere on the booking.com website where we should have booked the BBQ. I was told extra cutlery & crockery would be put in the kitchen of our booking- it wasn’t! But Billy got us some. We would have brought dishcloth & tea towel if we had known we needed to bring one.
Loved the cabins. And the outdoor seating. Really liked the hot tub. Loved the BBQ. Billy very helpful. Loved the visiting chicken & dogs.

United KingdomThe cleaners had not fully re-stocked the crockery or cutlery. We were missing a plate, there was no chopping board, sharp knife, or tea towel provided. (Fortunately we had a well-equipped picnic set with us). You have to pre book the BBQ hut and hot tub. The communal kitchen we saw on the booking site, is not available to private bookings, only for the retreat's Bootcamp groups. As the only cooking facility we had was the microwave, it felt a bit limiting for a longer stay. We found the bed a bit hard. A mattress topper would have helped.
This hidden away, well presented, rural retreat offers modern, clean, tastefully decorated and comfortable lodges with self catering options. We chose the King Size Lodge at £110 per night. A big bed, clean bathroom, with hot shower, a kitchenette with sink and microwave. Outside dining was fine as we had sunshine during the day and just enough room to get the table & chairs inside when it got chilly. Billy the Manager was very personable and helpful and his delightful little dog, very cute. We loved the nearby Apple Inn, only a short drive away. Ideal site for family or friends group bookings. There was only one other lodge with guests in (and no children) so it was very quiet.

United KingdomOnly minor niggles are that the floorboards were slightly creaky between the bedroom and bathroom in the harbour room, so it's difficult to not wake up your other half if you need to go in the middle of the night. Also, wi-fi didn't work in the room and there's limited phone service (I'm with EE so that's part of the problem!). It'd be good if this was sorted, but the place can be used as a base to explore the wonders of Northumberland so you don't really need to be glued to your phones and tablet at the rooms. Ultimately, these are minor things that had little influence on our overall experience. The place was fantastic for a great price, it's a 10/10 find for a truly pleasant affordable getaway. Thank you all for making our stay so enjoyable.
Lovely room which was clean and modern with a TV, with really comfy beds. Not to mention there's a hot tub! Welcomed in by Billy who is a brilliant host and helped make our stay memorable (along with his adorable Dachshund Reggie!). Great to meet you Billy, we hope to come up again in the future for a longer stay next time. Lots of great places to visit just a stone's throw away including Bamburgh, Alnwick, and Seahouses, but also the lovely town of Berwick. Food and drink in the area is sublime.
