Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomAs above.
It was a poor start with the room we were given and we had booked a few months before. We have a 2 year old and two month old and they put us on the second floor with no lift and it was a good walk to the stairs. But the manager sorted us right out, almost straight away and gave us a lovely room near the front door so access was quick and easy .

United KingdomThe pool and bar were closed during our stay.
Our room was freshly painted with a newish bathroom suite. We had a family room and the kids had their own separate alcove which was nice. We thought breakfast was good, very nice hash browns! Convenient location just a few steps from the seafront.

United KingdomWas surprised no bar facilities for hotel of this size, told awaiting their license which considering it was middle of August seemed strange.
Room was clean and a good size, breakfast was good plenty of choice, location excellent close to local amenities, harbour.

United KingdomParking is very limited and must be booked in advance. There’s no lift to the third floor, which can be difficult for guests with mobility or invisible disabilities. The room could benefit from an air conditioner, it was very hot at night, and opening the windows let in road noise, making sleep challenging. The television felt small for the size of the room, though this may not matter to everyone. Continental breakfast had very few items, really need a good rethink.
The location is excellent for the seaside and local amenities, with everything easily accessible on foot. The family room was spacious and well-equipped. The cooked breakfast was very good, and the coffee was enjoyable. Staff were friendly and helpful, even directing me to a free parking area nearby.

The staff were friendly and very helpful, even allowing us to store suitcases when we got there early so we could go off and explore before our check in time. The room was clean and roomy for a twin, and tea and coffee were restocked each day. The pool was fantastic a little deep for shorter people 🙂 but fantastic for a little wind down time and open until 8pm. Breakfast was at a reasonable time , nice choice of items , staff willing to help if you had any problems. We were able to come and go as we pleased which was nice We enjoyed our stay here.

United KingdomThe window in my room couldn't be opened or closed from its original position. As it was hot I wanted to open it further for which I needed an unfindable key. Didn't spend that much time in my room so didn't get around to doing much about it but I'm sure the staff would have done something if asked. Also the carpet in the breakfast room I nearly caught with my foot and went flying, it had folded over, nearly had me over a couple of times. Perhaps a bit of double sided tape underneath would prevent that, other than that just had to be careful where I trod carrying a plate with food. Again I didn't bring this up, just forgot by the time I had eaten I suppose, as I didn't actually fall over, thank God. But this sort of stuff is common anywhere so I didn't make a fuss.
Lovely location, near the front, town centre not too far away providing you went the right way of course. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the meals were good , covered to keep warm with lids unlike some other hotels that leave them open to the elements. There were not too many people in the hotel so looking after the customers wasn't hard for the staff. Having said that, they still went out of their way. This is my one of many visits to Torquay and I was caught in 1995 by the mysterious water bug that recurs in Torquay, so I made sure to use bottled water for my teeth, not tap water. Just a precaution I took, once bitten twice shy. I did it in the Canaries as well so perhaps it was just myself. Certainly no sign of that this time, and I've been to Torquay many times since, so it's all good. As I have a bus pass now travel was easy. All the same I went on the train to Barnstaple and back for under a tenner, (with senior Railcard), the trains may not be the most modern but they have an old feel to them that appeals to me, modern is not always the best. But so cheap it's unreal. I wish it was that cheap around my way (Cambridgeshire), but some chance near London !

United KingdomChange in management hence no pool or bar license. However, staff was upfront and courteous explaining it in advance by phone and were willing to offer parking space for free in lieu (not equivalent, but positive and helpful). Carpets in entrance, restaurant/bar could be improved as they looked super dated.
Super friendly staff, excellent room/apartment feel space, lovely location Close to shops and beach.

AustraliaSadly the pool was under repair and could not be used. The patio area near my room was untidy and in disrepair. It appeared that no attention had been given to it for a long time. Breakfast staff were slow to clear tables. Perhaps some Quiet Please signage could be placed near the rooms area so that noisy families might have some consideration late at night...
I asked for a car space to be reserved (for a fee) and I was allocated a perfect spot right at the front door. The staff at reception (Paul and Freya) were very professional, helpful, and engaging. I booked an Executive Double Room. My room was wonderful in that it was large, high ceilings with old world decor, and direct access to an outdoor patio area. The hotel is in a perfect location for accessing the town, beach, fairground and parklands.
