The only downside was the very noisy plumbing Sounded like constant drawing water and also being on the ground floor lots of noise from above rooms

The accommodation was spacious and clean and being on the ground floor ideal as my husband has mobility issues. The breakfast was exceptional a fantastic choice and delicious We had evening meals on 2 of the 3 nights which were also delicious.

Coffee at breakfast was a bit “instant”. Would prefer cafetière of proper coffee but given the rest of breakfast was so amazing we can’t really complain !!

The location was easy to find It’s on a main road which we knew but from Bar at front it wasn’t noisy. Our room was at the back in dog friendly double room. Quite “cosy” but more than adequate. It was spotlessly clean and only confusion was I thought no tea tray but when I asked it was in the low cupboard. Well stocked to keep us in tea and coffee ! Toiletries supplied as expected and we were happy with king bed View over back was green and their gardens are stunning. Huge car park so no issues with that. Narrow entrance with cover (under the rooms) so check height and width before booking A little noise at times in the room from water tank or something and walls a bit thin and some people were loud coming and going into rooms etc but nothing too tedious ! The food was amazing. Nice choice and breakfast of bacon or sausage for our dog was lovely. Dog friendly in bar area was really nice and the staff we saw all made a fuss of him Didn’t see main restaurant but assume same standard Toilets were clean and there’s a nice sitting lounge adjacent to the side entrance / reception Great value for money and will certainly return. Good base for a few days exploring and we covered Porlock , Lynton , Lynmouth , Instowe , Bude , Boscastle and Clovelly so can’t go wrong

Had problems with WiFi dropping out, I think due to being the furthest from main pub. Room a little cramped but ok for a few nights.

From the thatched roof to all the alcoves, niches & rooms the character & history of the Hoops is everywhere. All the staff friendly & smiling. Great location to visit north west Devon. Excellent breakfast & pub grub.

Dip from road into car park turning meant we scraped our car on the bottom, every entry and exit. Also don't take a very wide car and expect to be able to get into the car park. Entrance under building is very narrow.

Lovely staff couldn't have been more helpful throughout, especially Olivia. Beautiful large room, stylishly decorated, huge bathroom, well-equipped and spotless. Food was great and a good selection of drinks. Lovely big car park. All in all absolutely everything we needed. Lovely walking from the door. Close to major attractions.

Wine menu could be updated I think. Door to top of stairs was a little awkward, I don't view it as a big negative, just it's siting that could have been better especially when carrying luggage or meeting others people en route, one to each side on landing would feel a lot safer to use and a better fire safety rating would be achieved, without damaging the internal decor. But then I'm a Master Carpenter so it's in my nature to see these things.

Staff were friendly and accommodating, everywhere was clean, the food was lovely. The hotel is well placed for travelling around. Loved how the bathroom was planned out. Very good parking area. I particularly liked how you were left to enjoy your meal at leisure, not at all pushed or rushed.

Lovely pub with rooms where we stopped for an overnight stay to explore Bideford (an easy drive away). Plenty of parking and an excellent garden (in several parts) which was ideal for our dog. Our very large room (No 4) was fabulous - tester bed, sofa, and a spacious bathroom with a huge bath. It overlooked the road - I closed a window in the early morning and that shut out any road noise (there had been none the previous afternoon/evening). Food was delicious … from the cream tea in the late afternoon (fresh scones baked beautifully - crunchy on the outside, meltingly soft on the inside with lashings of clotted cream), dinner (I haven’t enjoyed a meal as much as this in a long while) to the breakfast. We were greeted and taken care of by an older receptionist when we arrived; the younger bar staff were perhaps slightly less attentive. We wouldn’t hesitate to return - for a longer stay.

An amazing breakfast each day - so good we didn’t manage to eat for the rest of the day. Also all the staff are so friendly, smiling, welcoming each time you see them around the hotel at different parts of the day. Room was absolutely beautiful, four poster bed with superb jacuzzi bath and shower. We will definitely return!

The room was really comfy, if you are taller than 5'8'', ask for a room with no end board. They have very cosy four-poster beds in some rooms, some of which have end boards.

Breakfast was really lovely, well cooked. Scrambled egg and all the breakfast was piping hot and fresh. Local sausages were delicious and there was a wide variety of breakfast to choose from. The room was very comfortable. Had a bath and shower over it so you could do either. After a day out it was really nice to come back to dinner in your own hotel. The food was excellent....thank you chef. The bar\restaurant was very homely.
