It was my anniversary and I had messaged a couple of times for early check in, which wasn't granted. I was told that my room would be ready at 3pm and upon arriving at 3pm, I had to sit and wait in reception until about 3.30pm for my room to be ready. I found the mattress on the bed to be quite thin so not the most comfortable of beds but not horrendous. The main thing that I didn't like was upon entering the room, I was looking for the TV, only to be greeted with what looks like a 13inch monitor. The TV is so small that I had to get out of bed to look at the "What's On" guide as I couldn't see if from that far away. Bigger TV's would definitely be a bonus. Whilst watching TV was not the main focus of my stay, after a long day, it's nice to relax for an hour and chill. The experience would have been improved if the TV was bigger than my iPad!!

The location itself is incredible. You would never know that it's in the middle of the A2/M2. The Lakeview rooms look out onto a beautiful lake with wildlife and the fact that the rooms are pet friendly is an added bonus. Even though the rooms may appear a little dated, they are so spacious and cosy. Very inviting. One of the highlights for my wife was the bath tub as we only have a shower at home. Really lovely.

Bathroom was poorly lit. Not enough coat hangers and they're awkward to use. TV was far too small.

Room was a good size and fairly quiet, being the opposite side to the A2. Food was good. Plenty of parking spaces.

On arrival given key to room 114 on opening door found room just as previous guests had left it . Reported to reception and to be fair young lady couldn't of been more apologetic or helpful. Gave her the option of getting room sorted while I walked my dog. But she instead insisted on an upgrade to lake view room. Which was very nice . Until bed time that was when as politely as I can put it the couple or suspect threesum in the next room were having a much better night than me . Hey ho the joys of having to stay away from home on business.

I think the only issue we had was the shower. It was not powerful at all and the temperature was adequate. It didnt seem to go any hotter than luke warm.

Staff were super lovely. They let us check in early to get ready for a wedding. Thank you Phoebe! Breakfast staff also lovely. The lake is beautiful and on a Sunny day as ours was, it was so peaceful standing there. Hotel location is right by the A2 and we were able to easily get a cab to the wedding we were attending at Coolings Castle. I also liked they had a barrier on the car park when we returned late at night so we felt safe leaving our car in the car park.

Sausages were unedible. The poached eggs were completeley hard. Breakfast smaller than before other visits, at least 6 times. Locatuon..was car park, cant be helped but peaceful n comfodtable.

Several months ago, we'd stayed at the venue and had already booked our last stay via Booking.com. As we were leaving we enquired about an upgraded room for our recent stay. We were informed that this would be £92 and payable at check-in. Upon arrival, we were charged £158, when we queried this, we were informed that this was the correct price. We weren't offered any kind of compromise or acknowledgement that we'd misinformed on the price previously. Had we known we'd been misinformed, we'd have not asked for the upgraded room.

Room service food fairly cool, chips were cold, but they did bring a fresh hot portion. Scrambled eggs at breakfast very watery. Slow toasters, could do with more drinks dispensers as everyone queueing for a juice.

Lovely staff on reception. Incredibly helpful and thoughtful. Very dog friendly.

The bedroom furniture was tired, and the walls too thin. Lots of noise from neighbours (not their fault) and corridor.

Totally lost in the 1980's - to the point where it could be a TV set! Quite funny, but missed some of the modern conveniences that you expect in hotels nowadays. Parking spaces also tiny!

Decor and general upkeep is in need of attention e.g. damaged bedroom wall. Very small TV in room and thin towels.

Easy location for what we needed. Nice to have a lakeside room with view, and a spacious room with comfortable beds. Breakfast was at a reasonable time and good choices.
