Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIf I had to find one fault (and this is us being picky) it would be the towel rail in the en-suite is a bit too big making it tricky to sit on the loo!
Incredible location with the added bonus of parking. Decor was lovely and the lounge was lovely and cosy, perfect for our girls night in on Friday.

United KingdomHaving to use the shower in my friends ensuite as I was using the mezzanine bedroom above the sitting room/kitchen. The main bathroom only has a bath. An over head shower would be much better or even a hand held bath/shower mixer direct from the tap would be great. The owners have said this is in their future plans for the flat :-) The early morning wake up calls from bin lorries emptying the glass bins from the "social" pub a few doors down. We had the windows open as it was warm and the noise was actually "startling". If they could come a little later in the morning it would be good ;-) There is/was construction going on across the road with some very nice new town houses, this meant lorries attending, dumping hardcore, tar, barriers etc, however it does look like its almost finished (Sept 2024) so not an ongoing problem.
Perfect location a few steps to shops, eateries and so much more. Well equipped, spotless and very comfortable. Patio area perfect for relaxing with a glass of wine. Parking space was so good. Easy to walk to the cathedral, explore the "market" with its street food, walk around the many shops and streets and quirky "rows". The old restored black and white rows buildings are stunning. We also took the "hop on/off" bus tour which was good value for money and allowed us to see more of beautiful Chester. It's 7 miles form the shopping outlet which was a 10 minute drive and good retail therapy! We plan to return and take a boat on the canal and maybe even a day at the very close by Chester racecourse.

United KingdomAs we travel a lot and stay in places where we can cook meals...too expensive to eat out every day....we would expect more bowls..plates..etc. Only one small glass pyrex dish for family of four. Nowhere to mix or prepare food...even salads. And cafetiere would be useful. Otherwise all excellent .
Location and apartment excellent

United KingdomNothing. Might not always be suitable for families with younger children - the twin room is on a mezzanine above the living space, accessed via spiral stairs. This is clear from the description, but may not be ideal depending on kids’ bedtimes.
Great apartment in the centre of Chester. Step out the front door and you’re straight into the city. The animal theme is fun - our two boys (10 & 12) loved it and their mezzanine bedroom. Beds comfortable and parking space a bonus. Really helpful communications with host as well.

United KingdomThe ensuite is very small and contains the only shower. The main bathroom only has a bath. You need to take dish washer tablets. Washing up liquid is provided. It isn't quiet at night (especially at weekends and particularly up in the mezzanine), but that is to be expected due to the location.
Lovely accommodation that is very comfortable. It is in an amazing location in the centre of the city. Numerous pubs and restaurants within 200m. Bonus of free parking spot. The balcony has only a carpark view, but it is a lovely place to relax in good weather. The apartment is well equipped and the beds are very comfortable. Good communication with the owners.

United KingdomThe one thing I would add is a mirror on the mezzanine level as I had to buy one so that I could do my hair up there. Also more mugs for coffee so that you don’t have to wash mugs every time. If there were a few more you could put them in dishwasher and get a clean one
Lovely property with fab decor and had everything we needed on the whole. Parking next to property and location was just perfect. Will definitely stay there again

United KingdomThe one and only slight negative was that the en-suite toilet is too close to the wall/towel rail. Having said that, there is another bathroom so not a major problem.

United KingdomUnfortunately, the downside of city centre living was the refuse collection early in the morning and at our time of visiting there were building works opposite nearing completion.
The location was perfect with plenty of restaurants within easy reach. The apartment was spacious and comfortable and the beds of an extremely high quality. I was especially pleased that the attention to detail spread to the use of pillow protectors which are so often missed. The parking was easily assessable even for our estate car.
