The accommodation was cute. The hot tub and access to it was the main attraction. Beds lovely and comfy. Very clean. Pub and kids play bit so close. Short drive to the beach.

Fantastic place, staff are great, nothing is too much trouble. The lodges were perfect, lovely and clean and stocked with everything you need....and the hot tub was brilliant. The food at the restaurant was amazing, we ate there every day. I'll definitely be coming back.

My lack of planning, I didn’t realise the pub would be shut on the Tuesday evening when we arrived until the day so I didn’t think through taking something for our evening meal. It’s a bit far out for anyone to want to deliver so just make sure you take something for tea if you’re going on a Tuesday. There’s a great chippy about 10 mins drive away.

Exactly what we needed and the top end of what I would expect for the price. The food in the pub was fantastic and staff couldn’t do enough for us.

Lovely lodge and hot tub in a beautiful and quiet location. On site pub was great and served delicious food. 10 minutes walk to the beach. Would definitely return....perfect for a few days break!

Lack of privacy with the hottub

Absolutely fab time at Black Bull retreat... couldn't fault my stay at all, from start to finish. I'm not sure of the cleaning ladys name. I want to call her Marilyn what a star!! could not do enough for us,extra towels, to places to visit. Every business needs a Marilyn what a credit!! WiFi was a bit hit and miss, but thank you, chloe, for allowing us to use your firestick. Will defo be returning before the end of the year.

The site was clean and well situated. Loved the view and how easy it was to find. The place was well stocked with everything you would need for your stay.

Our lodge 22 was quite close to a septic tank and often the smell from that and the waste/ dirty linen area drifted. The TV in the double bedroom did not work (it would be an idea to check batteries prior to letting out the lodge on each occasion), would also be useful to instruct guests on accessing TV channels or not in our case, the fire TV was asking for Amazon log in. The pillows were extremely flat, we overcame this by taking pillows from the beds we were not using. The double mattress was not comfortable having to stay pretty much in one position to avoid a spring in the back. The duvet cover on the double bed was torn and the bottom sheet stained with what looked like ink and there were tissues underneath the double bed. There were nobs missing from the oven hob and the kitchen light dimmer switch. This may all seem petty however for close to £500 for 4 nights stay I feel value for money is questionable. I am sure that had I approached the staff about the issues corrections would have been made, however petty my dislikes may appear I would have expected the basics to have been right without complaining but they were not.

The kitchen was well equipped, there was a spacious bathroom, and the hot tub was fab. Location was good, if you have a car there are many neighbouring attractions to visit.

The maintenance man had to get us out of the hot tub to put a treatment in and unfortunately didn’t tell us for me to go back in. However, every other part was perfect.

Staff was absolutely fantastic especially the bar staff they were so helpful and we really appreciated it and the locals are so welcoming

The hot tub was a little "tired" looking with limited functionality, but it was clean and full of hot water so it was OK for a weekend.

Lodge could have been cleaner but it wasn’t a problem to us . We didn’t have any washing up liquid or multi purpose spray / cloths to clean for the weekend. Lucky I’m a cleaner and had stuff in my car but for others there is a shop near the beach to get stuff. Or shops not a far drive away. Lodges could do with a welcome booklet with wifi info in and local places to visit etc I did ring for wifi password and got it easily or the lovely staff would of given it if we nipped into the pub.

Nice cosy lodges , plenty of storage and space, central heating and shower pressure was great! Situated on a quiet site. Amazing pub with reasonably priced drinks & really good food! Staff are fantastic and friendly. Hot tub was amazing, very clean & hot. Stayed at 35°c with the lid off and not very warm British weather
