Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe main detractor for this property was the shower. Really poor pressure and the shower head wouldn’t stay in place and flopped all over the place. We also asked for glasses as there were only plastic cups for our bedside water. It would have been nice to have had some sliced fruit and yoghurt for breakfast as well as cereal, toast and the cooked options. Given the price charged this is not an unreasonable expectation. We have resided at superior properties able to provide the above and for less.
A stately old pub on Holy Island right next door to the priory remains and views over them from the dining area and gardens. Perfectly located to walk to the castle or down to the cove to look over inner Ferne and the seals. The staff were really friendly and engaging and overall the stay was as expected for a pub stay.

United KingdomLovely bathroom but shower water pressure low. May have been caused by shower head being too heavy and damaging the hose at the attachment to the ‘head. Footboard on bed not great for my height (6’6”) resulting in a couple of banged toes and ankles (5’2” partner slept very well).
Brilliant, welcoming and friendly staff. Beautiful location, wonderful hotel. Food excellent, accommodation very nice and comfortable with following caveats…

United KingdomThe bed was uncomfortable, no mattress topper, so a bit lumpy, and the bed creaked a lot, which woke me up in the night. I also didn't appreciate being woken at 6am by the glass bin being emptied at the back of the hotel, so not the best night sleep. During the day, I asked if they had ice cream for our friends' kids as it was a very hot day, but and was told no. Yet when we had our evening meal, there was ice cream on the dessert menu, which was very disappointing.
The location is beautiful, and the view from the hotel is stunning. The room was clean and very spacious. The food was very nice, I had the Ghurka Curry, and my husband had the Balmoral Chicken. Good choice of drinks. Excellent cooked breakfast.

The location on the Island of Lindisfarne is excellent. The hotel staff were friendly and the atmosphere welcoming. Our room was basic but comfortable. There were many choices on the breakfast menu and the food was excellent with generous helpings. We also enjoyed our evening meal at the hotel.

United KingdomThere were a couple of places that had no signage to 'Mind Your Head' which if you're over 6ft and not familiar with the building and adjacent to your door, it could cause and accident, and did. The staff were informed and will be addressing this. I didn't like being asked to leave the lounge/bar area and vacate to the restaurant while they had a staff meeting. When you have paid £228.00 for a room (including breakfast), it's not something you'd expect and I have never experienced. The plug hole and the toilet fastenings could have been cleaner, and again, just a small detail, but noticeable. No decaf tea in the room and this has been the case for every hotel we have stayed in and not great for those with caffeine intolerance.
There is no doubt the location is its selling point and you are paying for the view, should you wish to choose a sea view room. The bed was very comfortable and we got up and left our hotel room to watch the sunrise, but this can easily be seen from your window. The food doesn't have a good rating on certain sites, but we had a fantastic dinner and breakfast. The reception and waiting staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

United KingdomBathroom, especially shower would benefit from an upgrade given the price of our overnight stay.
Fantastic location with views of Lindisfarne Castle and the harbour from Room 4. Staff very helpful and friendly. Lovely comfortable bar area and a restaurant with views. Bar food good and breakfast had all the usual options, including first rate 'Caster' smoked kipper. Room recently improved with new carpet. Tea & coffee provided and milk topped up.
