A little noisy outside due to it being centrally located in the town/village. Everything else was really good.

Very welcoming, helpful and friendly staff. Lovely spacious room. Really good meal in the restaurant and at breakfast. Cooked from scratch, not a buffet. Great value for money.

Too noisy, could hear people in next room clearly, noisy road unfortunately. Missing bulb from one table lamp, other one was ok, just needs to be a warm light over a ice white.

The bathroom was so hot… to the point of being dangerous. The towel rail was so hot, and the bathroom being a small space, it was easy to accidentally knock into it. I was glad I did not have a child with me. There was no thermostat as far as we could see - which meant, everything was hot, including the toiletries .We had to keep the door open to release some heat, but it made the room too warm. The windows did not stay open in the room, which made the nights uncomfortable. If it hadn’t been for this issue we would have been very pleased with the room. The staff over at Harpurs bar were friendly .

Unfortunately, the previous room occupants had broken the radiator valve and there was a water leak on the carpet. However, the duty manager brought us an electric radiator and sorted out some free drinks. The General Manager the next morning apologised profusely and gave us a free breakfast - which was beautifully presented and tasted wonderful.

Room was compact and there was noise from people and traffic in the street outside, but didn’t detract from stay. It could have been made clearer that dinner, bed and breakfast price included an allowance against the a la carte menu, rather than meals being fully included.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Accommodation was great. Food was excellent (both dinner and breakfast). Having an allowance against dinner and breakfast (£20 and £10 respectively) made stay good value. Melbourne is a lovely little town.

We booked a half board option via booking.com . It was not clear to us ( or the staff !) how it worked. We did pay an additional food cost which I’m still not sure I understood ( as well as obviously paying for drinks ) .

Dog friendly though you need to calm to book a dog friendly room. Our room was in a property across the road. Ideal as the route out for the dog was very short!

The four of us received a very friendly welcome and in the evening for Mothers day had a wonderful meal. Unfortunately my mother in law was briefly taken ill. The staff were excellent in their support to us, & in particular, Rick the on duty manager deserves a special mention for his professionalism and care.
