Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomStaff lovely each time but only one of them so had to wait ages on arrival as they were busy serving in the restaurant. Had to leave before breakfast, were promised sandwiches but these did not materialise. On second stay room was extremely hot - had to leave patio doors open all night.
Stayed twice for 1 night either end of a trip to the Scilly Isles. First stay room much nicer (and cheaper). Shared areas, restaurant & garden all very nice. Friendly pleasant staff. Would certainly stay again. DBB deal great value.

United KingdomThe hotel is located on a hill and parking is on a slant making it very difficult to park and hard to find on street parking.
The room was nice and clean, welcome sweets and few snacks were included. The hotel staff were very helpful, as I had forgotten my drivers licence in the reception, after checking out.

United KingdomNot really a criticism as not their fault, but the dining room was closed when I went due to a problem. Lovely restaurants a few minutes walk away (in the storm!). Really good breakfast but clearly not many guests as the hot food plate was unmanned and I didn't have much time. All my own dramas, I didn't get to make the most of the place. Would certainly return
Beautiful reception room with chairs by the windows. Views over the ocean. I was there whilst it was stormy so very peaceful. I loved the Mediterranean diner, my bed was comfy- great pillows. Hot shower, heated towel rail, lovely TV kettle etc (some places are cheap. Not here).

United KingdomI accidentally left my charger at the hotel room. That evening, I called and the staff who answered said the cleaning staff was off and they did not have access to the lost and found. The next morning, I called again and the staff who answered said he did not receive any charger from the cleaning staff. Clearly, my charger has been taken. I emailed the hotel but I didn't receive a reply.
The staff members at the reception were very helpful and friendly. The hotel has this vintage look and feel. We asked for the sea view and we were catered. The hotel was also within a 10-minute walking distance from Penzance Station. The sea view from the dining area (for breakfast) was amazing!

AustraliaTip, if staying off season mid week do not expect a cooked breakfast or your room serviced daily. Breakfast mid week was toast, cereal and yoghurt. No boiled egg as that required a chef to be called in. Come the weekend with more guests, the breakfast was very good. Did not receive a friendly welcome compared to other places I stayed in Cornwall. No bar fridge in the room. If walking to town, hotel location is up a steep hill.
Room was clean and spacious.

United KingdomThe hotel was undergoing some renovation work, which meant hot breakfast options were not available for a couple of mornings, but understand due to the time of our stay. Would return again during a busier period. Noticed some aspects of the room needed a bit more cleaning (around windows), but again, this would not deter us from returning. Sometimes staff weren't immediately available, but again, this was understandable considering the aforementioned works and time of stay. Again staff were attentive and helpful when needed.
Location is great as only a short walk from the town centre. The room we stayed in was large and comfortable, with an excellent view overlooking St. Michael's Mount (not all rooms overlook but I would stay here again in another room). Washing/toilet facilities were good, with a powerful shower, despite being on the top floor. Staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast range was good, with good hot veggie options, hot drinks, cereals, fruit, etc. Good range of facilities in room, including hairdryer, iron, TV, dry cleaning facility (to order).
