For electric car owners, please note that although the hotel states they are unaware of the rates for their charging station, there is no way to ascertain the cost in advance. In reality, the rate is exceedingly high at around 75p/kWh, which is unreasonably steep given the charging speed of 7-10 kW. It is reminiscent of motorway prices but without the corresponding efficiency. Furthermore, the spa area is in a state of disrepair and is in dire need of an upgrade. Both my husband and I experienced burning sensations in our eyes due to the excessive amount of bleach in the pool, which also appeared to be inadequately cleaned.

I must express my gratitude to the reception staff for promptly changing our room upon request. However, upon arrival, our initial room was uncomfortably warm, and overall, the hotel seemed poorly ventilated. It is advisable not to opt for the cheapest room, as there are considerable differences in quality among the available options. Despite these shortcomings, we found the hotel staff to be exceptionally friendly and accommodating. For this reason, I cannot rate the hotel lower than 7 stars.

The property needs updating, it is tired in parts with cracked paintwork. Also could be cleaner, cobwebs in the bathroom air vent and a bug fell out into the corner bath!

Location and historical charm. Also great breakfast, lovely veggie sausages. Staff were very accommodating and went out of their way to give us a lovely room to celebrate our anniversary. Also the spa facilities were great and the guy on duty provided great customer service.

For suggestion to help people going to concerts or local entertainment the restaurant could open earlier which would benefit the hotel as well as the guests.

The reception staff were friendly and accommodating from the start organising transport themselves. Room was clean and comfortable. Lovely breakfast to meet all requirements. You can enjoy spa facilities even after check out time to midday which were good with pool sauna and spa.

We were there for Crufts as were a lot of other customers that weekend. I think on weekends with an event like that that perhaps a reduced per dog rate be offered considering the sheer volume of customers you will be having with dogs. This would make it more enticing to those bringing multiple dogs as £20 per dog for literally an overnight stay where people are leaving very early is a bit steep. In our case for example we were only there 13hr in total. Otherwise the place was fantastic.

The setting was exceptional and the property simply perfect. Dinner was divine. Staff were absolutely lovely and helpful and overall the place was just fabulous. I will be returning with my partner in future.

Room and bathroom, a bit dusty under the tables, when trying to find sockets. Bath was not particularly clean around the edges. Restaurant is extremely poor. Charging top rates for mediocre food. This is our third year here, and every time we have tried the restaurant, thinking, maybe last year was just a one off poor performance but obviously not. Seriously, they need to stop taking advantage of their guests, who are rather captive because of the location. We paid £98 for two people of two courses of mediocre soup, melon, chunk of dry beef, mash, a rock hard parsnip, a carrot and not enough jus/gravy. Glass of wine each and coffee, which was served very cold. Unbelievably over priced!

Location is excellent , Car Parking & grounds also very good. Room & bathroom is spacious.
