How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Shower and loo was a little small with wash basin in the actual room.
The view from out bedroom window overlooking St Ives harbour was fabulous, went to sleep and woke up with the waves hitting the rocks below us. Sadly balcony was shut due to windy weather. No extra cost for a cooked breakfast. Good choice of menu for lunch/supper.

The hotel was on a superb location, only a few minutes walk from train station. The beach was close. All local shops and restaurants were walking distance. The hotel had best view resturant and excellent food menu. The view from our room was breathtaking. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. Excellent! Will visit again in summer.

No parking.
The staff were so friendly and accommodating, the views were brilliant, the breakfast was delicious and the hotel in general was very clean and nicely decorated throughout.

From our stay nothing..... if anything room size could have been bigger but would just be picking had a wonderful time
Me and my wife travelled down from Kent after works upon arrival in the early hours of the morning we was welcomed in with a smooth transition we was also offered a drink at the bar even though it was closed so we took a seat had a drink and kick started our short break, the staff and the level of service is the best we have come across and I don't say this lightly I believed this level of service, didn't exist any more great work great staff great service excellent location stunning views.

Nothing everything was brill only needs updating and a good paint job but that's being done in november with a 3 million pound facelift woke up to a beautiful sea view every morning couldn't fault anything apart from maybe women swearing to much but staff were good in intervening

Nothing to not like, we’d return again in a heartbeat, but I think we had higher hopes for the restaurant, it was really pub grub which is fine but thought it would feature more of the amazing local produce.
Lovely, comfortable rooms with spectacular sea views! Wonderful staff, so helpful and friendly!

If our room had a balcony .However I did see that there were rooms with a balcony ..so would probably book one of them next time …
lovely view of St Ives at night ….and all around the bay.....Food excellent...and service prompt.. staff were extremely helpful with baggage especially when we had to return to train station (I do need to use a walking stick )

The sausage was a bit spicy, but this is my personal preference. Everything else was perfect
The view was amazing. The bed was huge, and the pillows were like clouds. Breakfast was really nice. We had everything we needed in the room.

The steps from the station but we did get help.
Breakfast excellent. Room a little small but had everything we required and we have stayed in that room before.

There was no main evening meal for vegan's. Only one dish for vegetarians which was high in butter, not at all healthy. Breakfasts cooked food was very high in fat. I think the menu's need to be updated to reflect a much more healthy diet
The view from my room was beautiful. The hotel was warm and very comfortable
